Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer at Greenhill School, this newly created position is responsible for the effective oversight of the functionality and security of all technology at Greenhill, including but not limited to infrastructure, software, databases and platforms.  The Director of Technology is responsible for staying abreast of current trends and working with the administration on the development of the School’s technology vision and strategies for implementations. Greenhill requires a hands-on professional who enjoys working with the team to achieve goals, meet expected levels of service, eliminate security risks and increase student and employee satisfaction. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable in change management and leading change in information systems.  IT operations and system maintenance experience will help our systems grow as we continue to modernize and innovate.  In addition, this role will be responsible for overall project management of key initiatives. 

The successful candidate will work closely with leadership, faculty and staff to ensure alignment of technology priorities with school curriculum and goals, and create an effective process to support their needs on a daily basis.  Experience in project delivery, and an understanding of project management disciplines is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and lead a group of professional staff engaged in support of the Information Technology function and related tools resulting in a high performing organization promoting cross-organizational teamwork and achieving a reputation for efficiency, stability and high quality service
  • Foster a positive team environment; provide mentorship/coaching, and set clear performance goals and career objectives for team members
  • Provide leadership, direction and oversight of the technology operational and capital budgets
  • Initiate, maintain and monitor contracts and service levels with third party business partners and outside vendors
  • Effectively communicate and manage project expectations to project sponsors, managers, team members, and other stakeholders in a clear and concise fashion
  • Oversee cross-functional project delivery, including tracking and monitoring cross-functional milestones and deliverables
  • Increase the focus on Information Technology operational excellence to support the school
  • Develop and implement best practices, techniques, and tools for project planning, execution, project management, ongoing milestone/deliverable tracking, communication, and key performance metrics
  • Support business case development as needed and evaluate progress against the business case for key investments
  • Provide leadership support for organizational change management efforts
  • Oversee the operation of server systems
  • Identify security vulnerabilities and eliminate them with strategic solutions that increase data safety
  • Direct and support the implementation of software and hardware upgrades
  • Identify and recommend new technology solutions that the school can implement
  • Manage the Technology help desk

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated technology expertise and working knowledge of various platforms, operating systems and programming languages
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years’ management experience in an IT environment
  • Microsoft Windows and/or Cisco certificates highly desirable
  • Experience providing IT solutions in an educational environment preferred
  • Leadership presence and ability to build and maintain critical relationships
  • Deep understanding of what is required to execute transformational change for the school
  • Proven experience and track record of leading the delivery of projects
  • Strong understanding of how to design and deploy governance to improve project outcomes
  • Ability to lead through challenging situations and decisions
  • Ability to make and own key decisions as a leader, while balancing input from key stakeholders
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills across various levels of the school, including the ability to develop productive relationships with colleagues and external collaborators
  • Demonstrated management or supervisory experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic educational environment
