Spartanburg Day School is currently seeking a Director of Technology and Innovation. The Director of Technology and Innovation is responsible for setting a vision for the technology necessary to support the academic program, administrative structure and other technology programs of Spartanburg Day School.

A successful candidate will possess:

  • Bachelors in related field or equivalent training and experience, required

  • Masters or other advanced degrees in related field preferred

  • Strong understanding of technology, current network and computer operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards

  • Familiarity with administrative management systems, student information systems, Macintosh and iPad OS, and Google Workspace for Education Plus, required

  • Managing hardware and software specific to a school environment, preferred

  • Proven experience in systems design and development

  • Ability to define problems, apply a diagnostic mindset, and implement appropriate solutions

  • Ability to communicate effectively with nontechnical constituents from the entire school community

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and emerging legal issues as they relate to information technology, especially within K-12

  • Previous K-12 experience is strongly preferred.

Key Functions of the role are:

  • Works with school’s administrative team to define, and shape the school’s technology strategic vision

  • Manages the deployment of IT infrastructure, hardware, and systems, including daily tech support

  • Maintains a secure and robust technology architecture to include continuous improvement to network and applications

  • Troubleshoots network system failures and suggest areas of improvement

  • Collaborates across all divisions to develop an instructional technology plan

  • Develops and implements the school technology plan

  • Manages technology budget to include allocating of resources and projects scheduled in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Operations

  • Manages and maintains inventories of technology resources

  • Build relationships across the school community to establish a customer service response model for technology

  • Manages the help desk and work order system to ensure high-quality and timely technical support for all School community

  • Ensures education and training of faculty in the use of new media and technology

  • Works to meet all regulatory requirements regarding the safeguarding of information and implement best practices to ensure that systems are safe

  • Develop and implement IT policy and procedure needed to effectively and efficiently meet the school’s program goals while adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.

  • Develop and document an incident response plan for technology

  • Collaborate on curriculum technology support

  • Advise to the technology strategic plan

  • Proactively share technology ideas and opportunities with the school community
