Founded in 1949, St. Matthew's Parish School is an Episcopal co-educational day school with 350 students in Early Childhood through Eighth Grade. St. Matthew’s prides itself on its collegial and professional working atmosphere, engaged and respectful learners, and beautiful campus setting. Graduates matriculate to highly selective independent day and boarding schools, as well as local public charter and magnet schools.

St. Matthew’s is seeking a highly motivated, passionate, creative educator and leader in educational technology to direct all aspects of technology integration. The director works with students, teachers, and staff to apply new technology tools and strategies. St. Matthew’s has a thriving technology program and is well known for its integration and innovative programs.

The Director of Technology and Innovation is a member of the administration team who works under the direction of and reports to the Head of School. The director manages the technology program and personnel, develops and maintains the budget, oversees the procurement, configuration and maintenance of hardware and software, organizes training and other professional development needs in technology, helps to define and accomplish the school’s technology objectives and plan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ADMINISTRATION

  • Understands the academic program and has a strong vision for technology and innovations across divisions

  • Collaborate with the Head of School and the two Division Directors on strategic and operational aspects of technology

  • Serve on and/or oversee technology-related committees at the leadership, faculty, staff, and student levels

  • Develop and maintain strategic and operational plans for technology that are aligned with the mission and values of the School and support the goals of the various divisions and departments

  • Support all school departments for technology needs

  • Make/strengthen connections to the broader community

  • Mange technology and innovation budget

  • Work regularly with other members of the Senior Administrative Team

  • Explore emerging technologies and their relevance to both the operation of the school’s teaching and learning

  • Oversee and evaluate the deployment of all hardware, software, and systems from various perspectives (cost-effectiveness, customer satisfaction, asset management, rollout, efficiency, and performance)

  • A key member of the Parent Technology Ambassador Team and works with parents and families to provide education and guidance around social media, digital identity, and citizenship

ACADEMIC SYSTEMS & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Manage and support faculty and students with various academic campus systems

  • Provide training and support to students, faculty, and parents on academic course systems

  • Work with registrar on report card and transcript generation

  • Manage and support the School with various institutional subscriptions

  • Oversee professional development and support for all technology systems

  • Provide training for faculty and staff in school-wide applications

INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION

  • Develop and support technology programs in both divisions (i.e. Tinker Time, Digital Citizenship, Keyboarding, etc.)

  • Oversee the Technology Scope & Sequence to ensure technology skills (Grades K-8)

  • Teach and/or support technology classes in both the Lower and Middle Schools

  • Promote technology and innovative curricular design and excite teachers and students with new programs, ideas, and digital tools

  • Work with members of the technology and innovation team to manage and maintain the three makerspaces

  • Possess a working knowledge of tools and equipment

  • Purchase and maintain appropriate tools and supplies for the makerspaces

  • Work with the technology and innovation team to manage inventory and handling of materials and consumables

  • Work with the technology team to oversee 1:1 iPad program in Middle School, including software and hardware distribution, policies and procedures, and best practices

  • Manage iPad insurance program and maintain student, faculty and parent iPad bootcamp websites

NETWORK/SECURITY AND OPERATIONS

  • Work in coordination with the IT Operations and Systems Manager in all areas of networks and security

  • Works with the IT Operations and Systems Manager oversee areas of technology operations including walkie talkie program, security cameras, and phone system consultant

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required; Master’s preferred

  • 5-7 years of experience in a related field

  • 3-5 years of experience as an administrative leader, preferably in independent schools

  • Proven success at working collaboratively in educational leadership

  • Must be highly organized and a self-starter with good initiative, excellent attention to detail, and a creative approach to problem-solving. Must work well with technology and administrative teams. Able to multitask, prioritize, and remain level-headed in any situation.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a great team player. A high level of confidentiality and discretion are required. Excellent communication skills are critical, including writing skills.
