The Palm Valley School is located in Rancho Mirage, CA, in the heart of the beautiful Coachella Valley. We are a college-preparatory school that serves around 400 students in Preschool through Grade 12. The Palm Valley School is the only CAIS/NAIS Independent School in the Coachella Valley. We are seeking a Director of Educational Technology for our Lower School in the 2016-2017 School Year. This is a full time position serving grades K-6. Students in grades K-6 currently take twice-weekly Technology classes with a curriculum that includes basic keyboarding skills, Google Apps for Education (including Google Classroom), Digital Citizenship (through Common Sense Media), Media Literacy, basic coding skills (using Spheros), green screen and podcasting projects, Digital Portfolios, and more. In addition to the Technology lab classroom (equipped with Chromebooks, iPads etc.), this position would also have access to teach in our SmartLab (maker space) equipped with a 3-D printer, AR 3D Sandbox, Spheros, basic circuitry manipulatives, and more. Innovative educators with big ideas and the desire/ability to create new curriculum are highly desired.

Qualified candidates would hold a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field and have a minimum of three (3) years experiences teaching in a related area. Ideal candidates would be lifelong learners who are passionate about technology integration, be knowledgeable about inquiry based or experiential design theory (Design Thinking, PBL, etc.) and/or about the Maker Space/Tinker Lab movement, enjoy collaborating with students and colleagues, be a strong communicator, and have a good understanding of the developmental needs of students in grades K-6.
