The Palm Valley School is located in Rancho Mirage, CA, in the heart of the beautiful Coachella Valley. We are a college-preparatory school that serves around 400 students in Preschool through Grade 12. The Palm Valley School is the only CAIS/NAIS Independent School in the Coachella Valley. We are seeking a Upper and Middle School Director of Technology for the 2016-17 year. This position would report directly to the Head of School and be responsible for the following:

• Serve on the School Administrative leadership team, and provide support and guidance on school-wide technology issues.
• Plan, implement, and manage the deployment of Chromebooks for a middle school 1-to-1 program.
• Manage deployment of iPads and laptops for Upper School students, teachers, and staff.
• Design and teach two technology classes for MS/US students (coding, computer basics, robotics, etc.)

In collaboration with our Lower School Director of Technology
• Oversee all technology purchasing and annual budgeting/spending.
• Manage wireless system (Aerohive), network switches and wiring.
• Manage network element of school phone system and all printing devices on campus.
• Serve as the root administrator for school student information system (Senior Systems).
• Serve as System Admin for Windows Server/Active Directory.
• Manage web filtering and anti-virus application.
• Manage school projectors and other A/V equipment.
• Manage our Google Apps for Education system.
• Manage student IT interns.
• Organize and design faculty professional development and training related to academic and non-academic technology.
• Work with consultants to audit and troubleshoot existing systems and create new systems as needed
• Create/modify technology policies for Faculty, Staff, and Students, including usage agreements and adherence to the Digital Citizenship best practices through Commonsense Media.
• Provide technology/IT support school-wide

Qualified candidates would hold a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field, have a minimum of three (3) years experiences teaching in a related area, and be familiar with both IT and Educational Technology practices. Ideal candidates would be lifelong learners who are passionate about their content area, willing to fully embrace technology integration, enjoy collaborating with students and colleagues, be a strong communicator, and have a good understanding of the developmental needs of students in grades 6-12.
