Job Summary/Basic Function

The E-Learning System Administrator coordinates Learning Management System (LMS) administrative needs between LMS vendor, IT system/network, IT service desk, and WSU Online. Conducts primary system administration tasks including maintenance and functionality of system(s). Provides top-level tech support for learning management systems.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following: Computer Science, Business Information Systems/Information Technology, Multimedia/Web Design, related field or equivalent experience.

Three to five years experience in any one of the following fields: Business Information Systems/Information Technology, Instructional Technology, Computer Science, Multimedia/Web Design.

Working knowledge of XML, HTML, Javascript, and CSS.

Experience with multimedia development software such as Captivate, Flash, Fireworks or Photoshop

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications include:

  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs, LTI, QTI and CC standards

  • Working knowledge of XML, HTML, Javascript, and CSS

  • Working knowledge of Unix and Linux

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Computer programming and scripting

  • Experience designing, developing or administering courses in a learning management system

  • Experience providing technical support in a higher education environment

  • Working knowledge of database principles

  • Familiarity with a student information system (Banner, Ilusion, etc.)

  • Proven experience with multimedia development software such as Captivate, Flash, Fireworks or Photoshop

  • Knowledge of online teaching and learning methods

  • Knowledge of current and emerging learning technologies
