Valley Christian Schools is looking for an experienced academic technology professional to join our technology team. This is a highly visible role for which the successful candidate must have demonstrated experience designing instruction, teaching teachers, and providing thought leadership in stateoftheart uses of technology in education. The successful candidate will join a  team and report to the building Principal. The ideal candidate will work well in a team setting, communicate effectively and have a genuine desire to see teaching and learning impacted through technology. This position will be responsible for duties in grades 7-12. Most importantly, this candidate must profess an active and vibrant relationship with Jesus and be involved in his/her local church.

General Responsibilities

  1. Works to help plan and implement the school’s strategic objective of using technological innovation to advance the academic mission of the School.

  2. Provides technical assistance and training to faculty working on instructional technology projects, e.g., development and use of digital image collections, interactive tutorials, web resource site development, online assessment tools, blended or flipped classes, etc.

  3. Coordinates, develops and organizes programs—such as workshop, lecture and training series—to inform faculty on trends in instructional technology, methods for effective use of technology in teaching and use of specialized tools.

  4. Helps identify a standard selection of instructional tools for use across the school.

  5. Develops and maintains an online repository of resources for faculty training using the same tools the faculty are expected to use.

  6. Engages the faculty and IT Team in the exploration, discussion, and assessment of educational technology. Works collaboratively to expand existing efforts into an intentional program of faculty support for technology use.

  7. Maintains awareness of best practices, emerging technologies and new potentials in educational technology that may be adopted as new and emerging instructional media, technologies, pedagogies and practices.

  8. Supports student learning by determining impact of various uses of technology.

  9. Perform other duties as required in support of the IT Team.

Requirements
 

Required Skills

  1. Experience with instructional technology supporting faculty within a school.
  2. Classroom teaching experience.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development and evaluation.
  4. Coursework or professional development in instructional design.
  5. Ability to build trusted relationships with teachers, determine cultural, pedagogical and personal needs for enhancing learning and identify. comprehensive technological supports to instructional staff being mindful of standards and operational constraints.
  6. Ability to apply various instructional design approaches to learning content and to design and implement engaging and effective teaching and learning strategies.
  7. Experience developing instructor-led,web-based,and digital media instruction.

Preferred Skills

  1. A Master’ degree in Education, Instructional or Educational Technology or a related field with emphasis on teacher education and development, educational technology, or learning and teaching theories from an accredited college or university.
  2. Significant knowledge of and experience with current learning management systems and other instructional technologies.
  3. Familiarity with PowerSchool and Canvas a plus.
