Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School seeks a full-time, 10-month Education Technology Director and Librarian for the 2018-19 school year. The ideal candidate provides resources and training to ensure students in grades 7-12 as well as their teachers are effective users of ideas and information. The position is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating an educational technology program that enriches and supports the School’s mission, curriculum, and instructional objectives. The position guides and directs all activities, policies, and services to ensure its quality both at a general level and on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain library/media center operations, procedures, and services that ensure efficiency for grades 7-12
  • Supervise and maintain all ongoing and daily functions of the school library/media center
    • Train and supervise library aides and parent volunteers to assist in the effective operation of the library
    • Implement library volunteer program
    • Coordinate selection of materials for reserve collections and special units of study
    • Serve as information specialist to assist students and teachers in selection and use of materials for academic and recreational needs
    • Coordinate information retrieval for students, faculty, and staff through print, audiovisual, and electronic sources
    • Plan, teach, evaluate, and reinforce instruction designed to make students and staff effective users of information
    • Administer the daily management of the library routines, ordering, processing, circulation, etc.
    • Develop and promote the library program, its routines, usage, scheduling, and procedures.
    • Manage the library as a supportive, multi-task learning environment
    • Administer and provide information as necessary to maintain an efficient and useful library for the students and faculty
  • Develop a climate that will encourage students and teachers to take full advantage of the library and its resources
  • Administer the library budget within the constraints set by the Director of Finance and Operations
  • Augment professional growth by involvement in library and other educational activities
