This Education Technology Specialist supports Pre-K through 12.  Provides instruction, training, and resources in order to facilitate the use of technology in the classroom which will increase student use and knowledge about technology. Provides input in the development of a school-wide and division level programs that enables students to use technology as learning tools. Investigates and disseminates information on best practices for technology integration, sources of information on trends, research and applications related to technology use in the school program. Position will report to the Director of Instructional Technology, but will work collaboratively at all levels.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Work in partnership with the Director of Instructional Technology, the Assistant Headmaster, Director of Curriculum and other stakeholders in creating, implementing, sustaining and expanding the school’s technology plan
  • Collaborate with the Director of Instructional Technology in developing, implementing and updating integrated instructional technology programs throughout the school
  • Collaborate with the Director of Instructional Technology to establish the vision, goals and objectives for staff professional development programs that support a high level of technology integrated instructional practices in classrooms
  • Collaborate with the Director of Instructional Technology to present a cohesive integration of curriculum and technology across the school and understands the needs and demands for implementing “classrooms of the future.”
  • Gather information documenting the effectiveness of all technology programs, interpret this information, and provide constructive input in evaluation of the programs
  • Provide training to teachers in the use of current technology to meet curriculum goals
  • Provide training to teachers in computer competencies
  • Provide training to teachers to ensure integration of student computer competencies as outlined in the ISTE Standards
  • Collaborate with the Director of Instructional Technology in the budgetary process
  • Maintain current knowledge of technology and instructional practices that relate to the use of technology
  • Provide resource information relating to new techniques and practices that relate to the use of technology and that enable students to use technology as a learning tool
  • Communicate with school personnel, parents, and community to share information about the the school’s technology programs
  • Assist with special projects, i.e. telecommunications, multimedia, etc.
  • Assist the IT Department to maintain accurate records involving computer use, inventory and maintenance.
  • Assess the needs and plans for new technology of within the school and communicate these to the appropriate personnel or technology committee
  • Serve as key driver of technology and content integration
  • Know and use a wide range of assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectives.
  • Create a stimulating and challenging learning environment with effective use being made of classroom displays.
