Department Information

The mission of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences is to lead scientific advances through state-of-the-art experimentation and theory with the goal of understanding how the entire brain-behavior system works, from molecular neuroscience to cognition to the social behavior of groups. Through the application of cutting-edge discoveries to real world problems, through the training of the next generation of scientists, and through training citizens who will apply their knowledge in many fields from medicine to industry to public service, the department accepts the responsibility to translate scientific knowledge into practical solutions for problems that impact human lives.

Job Summary

Researches and evaluates educational technologies; and develops standard processes for psychology courses and recommends and implements improvements. Creates and implements course administration procedures; and coordinates and supervises exam processes. Conducts workshops and offers individual training to faculty, instructors, and TA’s; and designs resources and training materials. Mentors and coordinates undergraduate teaching assistants assigned to Psychological and Brain Sciences (PBS). E-Books and associated online learning tools are excellent instructional tools, choosing and understanding the various on-line learning tools presents their own set of problems.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in psychology, higher education, information technology, or related field and one year of data management experience.

Understand and evaluate the technology, explain and train faculty members, TAs, and UTAs to use the technology, work with the providers of the technology to explain problems and find solutions, and anticipate and solve student problems. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information including ability to professionally communicate with a wide variety of individuals. Strong organizational skills including ability to operate independently with excellent accuracy and attention to detail. Possess computer and software expertise including a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree; knowledge of Canvas or similar Learning Management Systems as well as familiarity with one or more publisher’s online platforms such as PsychPortal, MindTap, or Connect.
