The Educational Technologist works collaboratively with the middle and senior school faculty, staff and students of GNS to support the integration of technology as a tool for learning across grades 6 to 12. This will be achieved through ongoing analysis, development, implementation and evaluation of how best to use technology to support classroom teaching and enhance student learning. It will also include supporting faculty and students through training and tutorials, troubleshooting and providing other support where necessary. This role will coordinate with the Junior School Educational Technologist and the Academic Council to ensure a seamless transition in the development of knowledge and skills across the school. Through collaboration with individuals in different areas of the school, the Educational Technologist will assist with the design and delivery of the school’s technology plan as it relates to teaching and learning.
Responsibilities:

Design, Training, & Support

Partner with faculty to develop timely and effective digital learning experiences.
Partner with faculty and staff to develop technologies that support other learning initiatives such as contextual learning, academic assessment, or student services.
Coordinate training efforts for faculty, staff, and students in the use of technology in support of student learning, including preparing materials, offering training sessions, developing tutorials, and recruiting qualified presenters.
Assist with the design, delivery and ongoing review of the school’s technology plan as it relates to teaching and learning.

Planning & Project Management

Manage the development of integrated technology in the classroom.
Communicate frequently with teachers and other collaborators to ensure the goals and objectives of the school’s technology plan are fulfilled.
Provide periodic reports of the development, use and effectiveness of technology as a tool for learning.
Work collaboratively with the IT Manager regarding strategic, tactical and operational issues associated with the use of technology in teaching and learning.
Stay current on emerging technologies in the area of teaching and learning.

Assessment of Instructional Materials

Assist teachers and departments in assessing the effectiveness of new and existing instructional methods as it relates to technology.
Collaborate on methods for measuring learning needs and outcomes to ensure the appropriateness of the use of technology as a tool for learning.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor of Education and advanced degree in a relevant field, preferred.
A valid BC Teaching Certificate.

Experience

A minimum of five years’ experience collaboratively supporting teaching and learning using technology as a tool.
Project management experience, an asset.
IB experience, an asset.
Experience and understanding of ManageBac, an asset.

Knowledge & Skills

Ability to work effectively with all faculty members to understand teacher and student needs as it relates to incorporating technology into teaching and learning.
Strong knowledge of software applications and technologies for education.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong presentation skills and ability to facilitate high impact training sessions to students, faculty and staff in the use of learning technologies.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Commitment to maintaining a high level of collegial satisfaction.

Proven ability to adapt and learn new procedures and software programs.
