The Educational Technologist is a full-time educational (10 month) role reporting to the Chief Information Officer. This position requires a dynamic and experienced teacher, programmer, technologist and tinkerer with a deep understanding of computer science and educational technology and a focus on computational thinking, problem solving and design technology. In addition to teaching computer science courses, the successful candidate must be able to teach a variety of STEM and related classes and extracurricular offerings. The role also requires flexibility and collaboration to advance the use of technology to support teaching and learning. This includes integration and pushing technology into classrooms across disciplines.

This is primarily a division-specific role, but as part of the overall Technology Department, it offers the unique opportunity to be on the forefront of evolving technology offerings at Ramaz and to contribute to the overall school technology vision. Included is the opportunity to help develop the technology program and computer science curriculum, which are continually evaluated and may be modified each year.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teaching
    • Introduction to Computer Science
    • Honors Computer Science (following AP A curriculum)
    • various engineering, STEM, STEAM and design technology electives
  • Extracurricular
    • various club possibilities including, Computer Science, Engineering, Arduino, Robotics and 3D Design
  • Curriculum development
    • for Computer Science, technology offerings and technology integration
  • Integration
    • support technology use in classrooms
    • act as a resource for teachers to enhance teaching and learning
    • partner with educational technologists in all divisions
    • collaborate with teachers across disciplines to develop interdisciplinary units and/or courses
  • Makerspace management
    • help design potential dedicated spaces for innovation, design, engineering, robotics, etc.
    • maintain and manage such space
  • Support students and teachers with use of technology
    • in collaboration with entire Technology Team, provide a seamless and integrated technology experience
    • provide training and professional development
    • provide hardware and software support as needed
  • Work on special Technology department projects
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree preferred
  • Experience in educational environment, preferably in a comparable K-12 environment
  • At least three years teaching experience
  • Innovative, committed, energetic and effective educator

  • Expertise in multiple programming languages and technologies:
    • Java - required
    • Python
    • Mobile app development
    • Web design and development
  • Experience with current technologies and educational technologies, including:
    • Platforms: Windows, OS X, iOS, Android, GSuite, Schoology (or other LMS), Senior System/MyBackPack (or other SIS)
    • Hardware: desktops, laptops, chromebooks, iPads, tablets, digital cameras, printers, 3D printers, A/V equipment, interactive displays (SMART boards), projectors, Arduino, robotics
    • Digital arts: animation, video, photo editing and 3D design
  • Understanding of Maker Movement
  • Entrepreneurship and startup experience preferred
  • Hebrew language skills a plus
