POSITION PURPOSE: The Middle School Educational Technologist is responsible for assisting faculty in creating dynamic learning environments for students as a key part of the one-to-one technology program in grades 5-8.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide direct guidance and support in the use of technology for teaching faculty

  • Provide training and professional development for faculty

  • Partner with administration and faculty in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of technology in curricula, course materials and methods of instruction across disciplines

  • Provide administrative and technical support for instructional technology

  • Provide administrative setup, ongoing support, and faculty training for Learning Management System

  • Maintain records of progress with classroom technology efforts by departments and individual faculty

  • Supervise student spaces as assigned, instruct students individually and in group settings (to include teaching up to one course per term and/or leading clubs)

  • Guest-teach and co-teach across disciplines

  • Assist individual faculty to establish clear learning objectives for lessons, units, and projects utilizing appropriate technology

  • Maintain contact with students and parents via effective and regular communication

  • Provide a variety of resources for students to explore, manipulate and use technology in classroom and other school environments

  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of middle school programs

  • Maintain expertise in field through ongoing professional development demonstrating a commitment to field of study or knowledge of learning styles

  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence

  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or post graduate work in education or educational technology

  • 5+ years experience as middle school educator

  • Experience in a one-to-one environment using cloud-based, office-suite software

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of technology in curriculum design

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse faculty and student populations

  • Experience in curricular design, inquiry-based learning, and classroom teaching

  • Demonstrated experience teaching computer science, robotics and/or engineering
