JOB TITLE: Educational Technologist

REPORTS TO: Director of Technology

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt Full-Time

Marin Academy seeks an Educational Technologist for the 2022–2023 school year to join a successful and growing technology team. The main responsibility of this position is to lead and support faculty in their use of technology in teaching and learning by assisting teaching with integrating technology into the curriculum, facilitating professional development, and evangelizing responsible use of technology. The person in this position also: 1) works with the library staff to support students conducting research, to help them find and evaluate sources, and to facilitate their information literacy; and 2) looks creatively at educational tech and design, using our Design Lab and other resources. In the near future, the Educational Technologist will help envision a new library and media space for the school that incorporates innovative ideas about libraries and technology integration.

Responsibilities
Technology Dept. (75%)
● Support teachers with Canvas (our LMS) and develop best practices, expectations, and tools
● Promote technology use that supports excellent teaching and learning
● Inspire, encourage, and support faculty with creative and interdisciplinary technology projects
● Seek, disseminate, and help implement innovative methods for teaching and learning
● Facilitate high quality professional development (both one-on-one and in groups) to refine teacher knowledge and skills around technology use
● Provide coaching, peer observation, and modeling of modern instructional strategies and technologies
● Develop technology integrated lessons with teachers
● Support the needs of the tech dept. by responding to help requests from teachers, creating documentation and how-tos, and assisting students with technology needs in and out of the classroom
● Train students, faculty, and administration to use hardware or software in one-on-one or group settings
● Help build parent understanding and support of learning with technology faculty and administration across all divisions
 

Library Dept. (25%)
● Teach one class per semester
● Participate or lead student clubs and extracurricular activities
● Lead or Co-Lead a Minicourse (one week in late February/early March where we stop regular classes and run week-long intensives)
● Support the Director of Technology, the Technology Department, and various members of
● Work to support the library, primarily through helping teach lessons on research, source evaluation, etc.
● Eventually, help co-lead, with the Library Director and Tech Director, the creation of a new library/tech/media space
● Organize the implementation of a Digital Citizenship and Literacy curriculum to help students become respectful, responsible, and savvy online citizens
● Support day-to-day library tasks as needed/requested
● Collaborate closely with the Library Director
● Bring new ideas on how to increase the ways that library can support classroom projects, papers, and tasks in non-traditional ways
● Promote pleasure reading, especially of young adult fiction
 

Experience and Qualifications
● B.A. or B.S. degree, Masters preferred
● Classroom teaching experience, ideally in computer science, engineering, design, research, or technology
● At least four years’ experience in a library or educational technology integration role in a school environment (or equivalent experience)
● Deep understanding and appreciation of theories of learning and pedagogy
● Experience coaching/supporting teachers in the use of technology
● Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
● Demonstrated leadership in support and application of educational technology
● Proven ability to adapt and learn new skills to meet changing job conditions and requirements
● Proficiency in information and classroom technology, macOS, Apple TV, and iOS devices, and classroom AV
● Exceptional collaborative skills, interpersonal abilities, and patience
● Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills, including ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and follow through to completion
● Entrepreneurial and self-motivated mindset: imagine and build new and exciting opportunities for students and employees
● Demonstrated appreciation for libraries and the essential role they play in community learning and growth.
