Job Summary:
The Educational Technology and Data Systems Specialist plays a crucial role in managing, overseeing, and optimizing the school’s data systems to enhance operational efficiency and support strategic decision making. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the administration, integration, and security of data systems including the main student information systems (SIS) and all database platforms across the
institution. The Educational Technology and Data Systems Specialist empowers faculty, students, and staff to integrate technology creatively and effectively into teaching, learning, communication, and workflows. This role combines coaching, professional development, technical support, and leadership in digital tools and media production.

 

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Systems Management

  • Direct and oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization, of all school-wide and area specific
    data systems
  • Develop and implement security controls/permissions to all-school data systems to protect the
    private and confidential nature of student, family, and personnel information; oversee and effectuate
    data compliance policies to ensure adherence to applicable regulations (such as FERPA, COPPA)
  • Develop and implement integrations between data platforms to improve efficiency and user
    experience
  • Collaborate with the Academic Dean to create and develop the academic schedules. Coordinate
    student course requests in the school database and utilize additional technology tools to generate an
    academic schedule that optimizes the student experience within the allocation of time blocks,
    classroom spaces, and colleague availability
  • Work closely with academic and administrative leaders to align data strategies with school priorities.
    Coordinate with database administrators within other areas of the school– including but not limited to
    the Enrollment, Advancement, Athletics, and Finance offices– to ensure data strategies and data
    management practices are consistent across the institution
  • Generate reports and dashboards to support data-driven institutional decisions
  • Stay informed of emerging trends in educational technology and data management

Faculty, Staff & Student Development

  • Lead onboarding and digital skills orientation for new faculty, staff, and students
  • Plan and facilitate tech-focused in-service days, workshops, and ongoing skill-building sessions
  • Provide coaching and hands-on support to faculty for the pedagogical use of multimedia and digital
    tools
  • Provide training and support to colleagues in various departments and learning communities in order
    to maximize effective use of data systems
  • Partner with learning specialists and academic leaders to develop inclusive, tech-enhanced
    instructional strategies
  • Promote a culture of exploration and innovation by staying current with emerging technologies
  • Create accessible how-to resources, guides, and internal documentation for end-users
  • Model responsible and creative use of AL, productivity tools, and digital platforms

Technology Operations & General Support

  • Ability to support basic technology troubleshooting. (Microsoft, Google, MacOS, iOS, AV equipment,
    printing, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the broader Tech Team to support campus-wide deployments and updates, such as
    assistance with software installations, device setup, inventory tracking, and equipment lifecycle
    management
  • Maintain familiarity with Windows, Android, and cross-platform environments to assist diverse users

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in education, educational technology, or a related information technology field
  • Master’s degree preferred in educational technology, instructional design, or a related information
    technology field
  • Proficiency in SIS, LMS, and other educational technology platforms; experience with Blackbaud
    platforms preferred
  • Experience with SQL, APIs, scripting, or automation tools is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of data privacy laws and best practices
  • Extensive knowledge of digital platforms, tools, and educational technology is crucial
  • Practical experience in a school setting, preferable with tech-related roles

Required Qualifications:

In addition to key responsibilities, the Educational Technology and Data Systems Specialist will perform other duties as assigned.
