Catherine Cook School is seeking open-minded, culturally responsive, and adaptable candidates for our Educational Technology Assistant Teacher role. As part of our Educational Technology team, the Assistant Teacher will help carry out our mission and vision through collaboration and partnerships across the school to support the developmentally appropriate integration of technology tools and resources across our curriculum. This position will work closely with our Early Childhood teachers to facilitate maker/tinker-based activities in our Tinker Lab as well as work with our IDEA Lab Coordinator to provide meaningful experiences in our IDEA Lab for the other divisions. Other means of supporting the Educational Technology team will include collaborations with our AV Studio Coordinator and Computer Science Teacher. Since teachers all have different approaches, needs, and strengths, on-going communication is essential to a well-functioning classroom. In general, the roles and responsibilities are to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and an interest in the educational technology landscape

  • Encourage and support open lab times for teachers

  • Regularly co-facilitate tinker/maker/computational thinking related activities in the tinker lab with all Early Childhood classes.

  • Collaborate with IDEA Lab Coordinator when necessary to facilitate Lower School and Middle School classes

  • Maintain a consistent and significant presence in classrooms across all three divisions (pop-ins, focused visits, observations, in-classroom intros/demos/activities)

  • Engage in regular reflective supervision and professional growth planning with Director of Education Technology

  • Help the team maintain all relevant spaces (Tinker Lab, IDEA Lab, and AV Studio)

  • Communicate experiences with families via Seesaw, newsletters, showcases, and more

  • Assist with morning arrival, dismissal, lunchroom, and recess supervisory duties as assigned

  • Adhere to school policies in the Catherine Cook Faculty Handbook and contract

Qualifications

  • B.A. required; candidates pursuing M.A. in Education preferred

  • Experience with early childhood education is also preferred.
