Position Summary:

As a part of the MDY Faculty and reporting to the principal, the Educational Technology Director will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students of MDY to support student learning through learning design and the use of technology.

 

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  • Partnering with faculty in the learning design process to make the best uses of available teaching methods and the best uses of technology to enhance student learning.

  • Facilitate and manage peripheral technology (scanners, cameras, tablets, and projection appliance).

  • Facilitate installation, support and training for faculty so that every teacher can deliver a multisensory, accessible curriculum.

  • Exploring new technologies that can support student learning.

  • Pushing into classrooms in order to observe and support students and faculty technology use, troubleshooting, and providing other support services, as well as managing student technology issues as promptly as possible.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field with a preference in an advanced degree.

  • Two years' experience in the design and development of technology-based instructional materials is required.

  • Project management experience is required.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Capacity to thrive in a team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to interpret faculty and student needs and produce instructional materials.

  • Ability to train and support students, faculty, and staff in the use of learning technologies.

  • Proven ability to adapt and learn new procedures and software programs.

  • Capacity to be enterprising, diplomatic, and proactive at solving problems.

  • A passion for technology, education, and emerging trends.

 

Technical Skills:

 

  • Experience in web design including the ability to code HTML and CSS as well as use of Adobe suite products, Google Docs and Google Apps.

  • Experience with web-based course management and / or content management systems.

  • Familiarity with graphic design principles.

  • Knowledge of information architecture principles and methods.

  • Understanding of various operating systems, file structures, file formats, and protocols.

  • Knowledge of current instructional theories for collaborative learning with web-based tools.

  • Knowledge of streaming audio and video, podcasting, and social networking tools.
