Fundamental skills include but are not limited to:

  • Master’s degree in Educational Technology (or related degree) 
  • Keen administrative abilities with strong skills in organization and management of resources
  • Possess extensive experience with various operating systems (including Windows, Chrome, and Apple OS), mobile technologies, networked systems, telecommunications, and databases
  • Ability to assess software and hardware and make full use of these resources
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Work well with students, educators, and staff members
  • Broad and deep understanding of the role of technology in a school setting

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the Academy’s technology infrastructure, including servers, switches, leased printers, leased VOIP phone system, wireless network, cloud-based web filtering, and leased fiber Internet connection
  • Provide leadership for the school’s 1-to-1 laptop program for Grades 5-12
  • Supervise IT personnel and the Academy’s IT Helpdesk
  • Provide leadership and guidance for educators, staff, administrators, and students as it relates to technology
  • Assist and develop new ways to integrate technology into the school’s curriculum
  • Communicate and maintain an active awareness and participation in appropriate professional development opportunities
  • Participate in administrative and faculty/staff meetings 
  • Meet periodically with the Head of School to discuss ongoing projects relating to technology and the use of technology in the classroom
  • Provide leadership by modeling the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education
  • Other duties as assigned

Academic Technology Responsibilities

  • Creates, organizes, and supervises all technology workshops and informs employees of upcoming technology workshops and conferences
  • Provides collegial leadership by mentoring and assisting faculty, staff, and administration
  • Assists faculty members to develop and implement strategies to enhance and enrich their teaching through the use of current and emerging forms of technology
  • Ensures faculty, staff, and students know the guidelines set by the school’s Appropriate Use Policy and models these practices for others
  • Works with the Learning Community Leaders to evaluate curriculum and pedagogy in the context of technology education
  • Provides parent education in the area of technology curriculum and pedagogy

IT Responsibilities

  • Supervises the school’s Network and Technology Support Specialist
  • For complex issues, assigns work to the school’s contracted IT support company 
  • Works with administrators and faculty to assess needs and expenditures
  • Develops, seeks approval for, and manages the school’s technology budget
  • Purchases budgeted technology hardware and software
  • Collaborates with facilities team on projects such as campus security and drills
  • Assists personnel involved with research and grant writing in the field of technology

General Responsibilities

  • Reviews and evaluates new software as it is developed and communicates such evaluations to staff and faculty as appropriate
  • Maintains professional contacts with other schools, associations, organizations, and vendors concerning technology and equipment
