The Educational Technology Innovator and Coordinator (ETIC) is responsible for working with students, teachers, librarians, and administrators to effectively integrate educational technology in a manner that enhances teaching and learning in the Lower and Middle Schools. This role will entail assisting in the creation, use, and maintenance of design learning labs in both the Lower and Middle Schools, empowering students to be critical thinkers and ethical users of information, hardware, and software. The ETIC will collaborate with teachers and the Director of Educational Technology and Libraries to carry out a coordinated digital citizenship and media literacy program, working with students and faculty on a regular basis to reinforce these ideas.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the Director of Educational Technology and members of the Ed Tech/Library Department to meets the needs of the community. 

  • Help to establish and maintain design learning labs in both the Lower and Middle Schools that align with curricular and extra-curricular needs.

  • Partner with the LEAP Coordinator to design after-school makerspace and STEM programming.

  • Work as part of a team to integrate the tools and technologies available into the curriculum.

  • Create an environment in the design learning labs that is conducive to active and participatory learning, resource-based instructional practices, in collaboration with teaching staff.

  • Plan and deliver high quality lessons through direct instruction and collaboration. 

  • Participate in the curriculum development process to ensure that the curricula includes the full range of literacy skills (media, visual, digital, and technological literacy) necessary for students to develop as lifelong learners.

  • Collaborate with teachers and students to design engaging projects, inquiry learning experiences and assessments that incorporate multiple literacies (including information literacy) and foster critical thinking.

  • Assist as needed in managing online subscriptions.

  • Provide basic technology support to faculty, staff and students

  • Assist during orientation to provide professional development and support to faculty, and to provide support to students with online access, an understanding of the rules in our responsible use policy, and how to use the school’s online tools (including Office 365 and our LMS) successfully.

  •  Remain current in applicable professional practices and developments.

  • Participate in and conduct professional development programs to enhance understanding and keep up with latest trends.

  • Prepare and administer the Lower School educational technology program budget to support specific program goals.

  • Comply with the expectations for faculty at Landon.
