Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School, a Community Jewish Day School, seeks an experienced leader of educational technology for the 2018-2019 school year. The successful candidate will be professional, supportive, and collaborative, will possess both personal and professional integrity, will stay current with emerging technologies, software and hardware solutions, will propose learning strategies using new and existing technology, and will be enthusiastic about participating in and contributing to the Heschel community of lifelong learners.

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s Degree required; graduate degree preferred
-Strong technology background as well as a solid understanding of education and the complexities of working with a wide-range of constituents
-Expertise and comfort working in a device agnostic environment
-Educational expertise in a K-8 environment, familiarity with K-8 curriculum areas.
-Ability to research and propose new technologies that enhance teaching and learning through the purposeful integration of technology.
-Strong interpersonal skills and collegiality, and the ability to manage and prioritize concurrent projects and complex systems effectively
-Adherence to the highest level of professionalism by demonstrating honesty, integrity, and maturity.
-Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present initiatives and provide clear instruction to multiple constituents with a wide range of background and comfort levels with technology
-Ability to arrive at a decision in a collaborative manner
-Strong work ethic and dedicated lifelong learner
-Willingness to work extended hours—including weekends and evenings as required.

Responsibilities:

-Maintain awareness of best practices, emerging technologies and new potentials in educational technology that may be adopted as new and emerging instructional media, technologies, pedagogies and practices.
-Collaborate with senior administration to develop and implement a technology program in support of the school’s mission and vision. Work with Division Heads on special projects to be determined.
-Collaborate, proactively, with colleagues to develop units and projects and deliver educational technology initiatives that align to the mission of the school and the needs of the classroom
-Serve as a resource for information on the current landscape of educational and institutional technology.
Promote responsible and thoughtful use of technology throughout the community.
-Ensure issues involving technology are communicated to all stakeholders in a timely basis.
-Coordinate purchasing, strategic planning, tech support services, networking, infrastructure and hardware, databases, and our laptop, Chromebook, iPad, and tablet programs.
-Establish and oversee help desk operations for the school
-Promote growth, not just change, by asking questions and building consensus

Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School is a TK through eighth grade Jewish community day school. Its 76,000 square foot facility includes a gymnasium/auditorium, a library, a lunch pavilion, elementary and middle school media labs, elementary and middle school science labs, art and music classrooms, playgrounds, and an athletic field.
