Eastside Catholic School is a Catholic faith-based educational community where students in grades six through 12 learn to integrate their thinking and believing with action in ways that encourage intellectual excellence, nurture relationships, and inspire a life of leadership and service to others. Founded by parents in 1980, the school is governed by an elected board of trustees. It is the only seven-year, co-educational Catholic school on the Eastside, and offers a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum. Eastside Catholic School enrolls 930 students, employs 120 faculty and staff members, and has an alumni base of over 4,600. Position

The Educational Technology Manager should have a clear vision of 21st Century education and the role that technology and information literacy can play in that vision for both middle and high school students. A strong technical skill set in these areas should be matched by someone with even stronger collaborative skills. As a member of the Eastside Catholic faculty, the Educational Technology Manager will have the right mixture of initiative and follow-through, leadership, collegiality, tech savvy and interpersonal skills to be an integral part of school life for students and faculty.
 

The Educational Technology Manager will support and coach teachers to develop clear, realistic and essential instructional and/or professional development goals which ultimately improve the quality of instruction and enhance student learning. Through this work, they will work to inspire, encourage, and support faculty with creative, innovative, and sustainable technology solutions that support teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Inspire, encourage, and support faculty with creative and sustainable research and technology solutions that support teaching and learning.
  • Cultivate an environment that encourages creative and independent use of instructional technology throughout the school
  • Work with the principals and technology committee in the development and continued evolution of a scope and sequence for technological and information literacy skills and ensure that technological and information skills are being taught in alignment with the scope and sequence
  • Help define and develop the role of technology and information literacy in the classroom as it promotes and supports the mission of the school
  • Design, coordinate and provide instructional technology in-service opportunities for students, faculty and staff including in-service opportunities for new and returning faculty during the last weeks of August
  • Provide skill development in the areas of technology and information literacy for students, through partnering with faculty, direct classroom instruction, and outside the classroom in groups or individually
  • Create clear understandings among faculty/staff/administrators regarding the services provided by the Educational Technology Manager and the IT department
  • Respond to (and solicit) faculty requests for assistance in the integration of technological and information literacy skills that enhance the educational experience for students into their curricula
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of the curriculum across departments to help faculty identify areas best suited for collaboration across and within departments
  • Be a model for effective uses of current and emerging instructional technology inside and outside the classroom for teachers and students
  • Provide, as needed, technical support to faculty/staff
  • Stay abreast of new technologies that have academic and/or instructional value
  • Assist in the management of online learning resources (e.g. PlusPortals, OneNote, School webpage, Learning Management Systems, etc.)
  • Attend faculty, grade level and department meetings as necessary
  • Support School initiatives
  • Participate in the ongoing philosophical and strategic conversations regarding technology and information literacy at Eastside Catholic School
  • Work with the Director of IT and the principals to develop and achieve annual strategic goals.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Educational Technology or similar preferred.
  • Superior teaching skills with at least 7-10 years of teaching experience and demonstrated success and mastery in teaching and pedagogy.
  • Preferred prior experience as a lead teacher, instructional coach, technology integrator, consultant, or comparable role.
  • Ability to improve the development and implementation of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and instructional data with teachers using a variety of coaching processes and other forms of professional development.
  • Familiar with modern technology tools, services, and other instruments that have applications both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Ability to facilitate reflective thinking and self-advocacy in teachers by being a neutral and active listener.
  • Ability to help adults problem solve with a solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive and supportive relationships with faculty and administration as well as creating collaborative learning groups.
  • Familiar with the professional development needs of teachers and how to connect those needs to relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Experience conceiving, building, and conducting professional development opportunities for faculty, staff and administration.
  • Demonstrated leadership in support and application of educational technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to blend technology with sound pedagogy toward educational goals.
  • Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar tools to help others use them.
  • Entrepreneurial and self-motivated mindset: imagine and build new and exciting opportunities for students and teachers.
  • Exceptional collaborative skills, interpersonal abilities, and patience.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills, including ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects and follow through to completion.
