Job Description

PVCC seeks a full-time Educational Technology Specialist to promote and support the use of educational technology to faculty. The Educational Technology Specialist will serve as the primary manager of PVCC’s Learning Management Systems (LMS), Canvas and Blackboard. The Educational Technology Specialist will provide one-on-one assistance to faculty in constructing courses in Canvas. The Educational Technology Specialist will lead workshops, webinars, and clinics for faculty on Canvas and other educational technologies. In addition, the Educational Technology Specialist will troubleshoot solutions to problems experienced by faculty and students.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide educational technology training and support to PVCCfaculty

  • Conduct workshops, webinars, and clinics for faculty on educational technologies

  • Manage PVCC’s Learning Management Systems (Canvas and Blackboard)

  • Administer and support course evaluation process.

  • Manage and support Shared Services Distance Learning program.

  • Serve as liaison to the VCCS system office for educational technology issues

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred in educational technology, instructional technology, instructional design, or related field

  • Ability to learn new software quickly and thoroughly

  • Superior customer-service skills; must enjoy helping faculty and students

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous teaching or training experience

  • Experience with Blackboard and Canvas

  • Experience with video production and webpage creation

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct workshops and trainings

  • Demonstrated ability to create user-friendly documentation
