The Educational Technology Specialist (ETS) will assist in the continued development and implementation of a comprehensive educational technology program across all Park Street School campuses; especially within the K-6 classrooms. The ETS collaborates with appropriate instructional and technical staff to manage and optimize the use of instructional software and network resources in the support of quality teaching and learning. They will work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents and serve as an onsite technical resource and problem solver for staff and students in coordination with the Technology Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Educational Technology Specialist will be responsible to:

  • Promote the safety and well-being of all students, including digital citizenship

  • Plan and Implement learner-centered curriculum in technology and STEAM

  • Teach students technological strategies, skills, and perspectives in dedicated technology lessons

  • Assist in development and implementation of a balanced technology/STEAM education curriculum, including elements of digital content, cutting-edge learning theory, and educational devices

  • Cultivate in students a love and understanding of technology, and encourage students to become empowered learners through digital competency

  • Infuse digital culture throughout the school programs

  • Be a leader in integrating technology, new media tools, and media production into educational settings to further learning

  • Assess technology skill levels of students, teachers and staff.

JOB DUTIES

The Educational Technology Specialist will:

  • Plan and implement technological experiences outside of the classroom; including clubs, electives and potential summer courses

  • Train and support teachers to develop technology-enriched learning activities and designs within their classrooms

  • Develop and teach integrated Science/Technology/Engineering/Arts/Mathematics classes

  • Partner with classroom and subject specialist teachers to incorporate technological platforms, tools, and media into their teaching

  • Identify and propose emerging technologies for use in curriculum, assessment and evaluation

  • Support utilization of existing education-based technologies (including library software)

  • Recommend purchase of hardware, software and related resources.

  • Manage technology resources while ensuring the continued reliable operation of devices, applications and systems

  • Coordinate with the Technology Manager the employee training in the use of Veracross, MS Office Suite, and other software as generally used by PSS

  • Able to stay late/come in early for all events at the school for technology setup and assist with running PowerPoints, Movies at the discretion of teachers/staff/admin

  • Work with Teachers/Administration at the Preschool to ensure an active presence 1-2x per month in different classrooms – introducing robotics, offline programming to students in all classrooms

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The Educational Technology Specialist should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education or Technology

  • Extensive knowledge of digital platforms, tools, media, methods, and design processes

  • Strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Considerable knowledge of curriculum development and implementation

  • Considerable knowledge of effective and varied teaching strategies and assessment techniques

  • Considerable knowledge of current research trends in instructional technology

  • Considerable knowledge in the use of personal computers, iPads, Smartboards, digital cameras, document cameras, iPods, flip video cameras, as well as, a wide variety of digital resources, tools, and instructional software

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and parents
