Sequoyah is an independent K-12 day school in Pasadena, California offering an innovative college-preparatory curriculum in a student-centered, experiential, humanistic environment. The school offers a developmentally appropriate program from elementary grades through high school. In keeping with its mission, “A Sequoyah education challenges the mind, nurtures the heart, and celebrates human dignity,” the school’s program supports a student’s social and emotional growth, and academic progress. The school was founded in 1958 and recently expanded its highly regarded elementary and junior high program to include a high school. The high school campus is located just a few miles away from the K-8 campus.

Job Summary
The Educational Technology Specialist will assist the faculty in integrating appropriate and innovative technologies to support, enhance, and extend learning in grades K-12. The responsibilities are two thirds of the time at the lower school and one third at the upper school. The Educational Technology Specialist reports to the Director of Educational Technology and is a full-time employee. This is a 10 month position that begins August 2021.

Areas of Responsibility and Specific Duties

The Educational Technology Coordinator will have these main responsibilities:

  • Develop curriculum and teach technology classes for Kindergarten through 8th grade students.

  • Teach an elective course at the high school.

  • Work with faculty K-12 to integrate technology into the core curriculum.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or technology-related field

  • Wide-ranging knowledge of current technology movements and trends

  • 3-5 years of related experience in education prefered

  • Independent school experience preferred

  • Strong interest and experience in pedagogy and innovation

  • Experience working with a diverse group of learners

  • Expertise in Apple hardware, Mac OS and iOS software, and G Suite for Education

  • Ability to work independently and within a team

  • Experience working with the Adobe Suite

  • Experience with coding and Robotics
