Job Description

PVCC seeks an Educational Technology Trainer to teach faculty how to use Canvas and other educational technologies. This position is part-time with a flexible work schedule.

The Educational Technology Trainer will provide one-on-one assistance to faculty in building their courses in Canvas, our Learning Management System (LMS), as well as assist faculty with other educational technology issues. The Educational Technology Trainer will lead workshops, webinars, and clinics for faculty on Canvas and other educational technologies. In addition, this position will troubleshoot solutions to problems experienced by faculty and students. The Educational Technology Trainer may be tasked with creating instructional handouts, webpages, and videos.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides educational technology training and support to PVCCfaculty

  • Conducts workshops, webinars, and clinics for faculty on educational technologies

  • Assists faculty with building courses in Canvas

  • Assists students in online courses

  • Creates user-friendly instructional material in various formats including handouts, web pages, and videos

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Previous teaching or training experience

  • Ability to learn new software quickly and thoroughly

  • Superior customer-service skills; must enjoy helping faculty and students

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Strong work-ethic

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct workshops and trainings

  • Previous experience with Blackboard or Canvas

  • Knowledge of HTML

  • Demonstrated ability to create user-friendly documentation, web pages, and videos
