The Front End Data and Web Administrator is responsible for the administration, development and maintenance of the school’s web presence, ensuring a consistent look and feel, taking into account layout, positioning and navigation. Along with the Data and Web Administrator in the Technology Department, this position works closely with members of the Communications, Development, and Admission Departments and supports multiple content providers throughout the school community. 

 

Primary Duties 

  • Develop and organize web content using the Drupal Content Management System (version 8). 

  • Maintain consistent branding across all web and digital media. 

  • Identify, recommend, and prioritize new web features and applications in conjunction with stakeholders.

  • Work to align website with our student information system’s web portal features so the two work cohesively for the school’s various users.

  • Work with content contributors to ensure updated, fresh material. 

  • Develop templates and train staff on their use.

  • Track and evaluate new standards, technologies and trends in website development, design and delivery.

  • Find, diagnose and fix website problems, including broken links, formatting inconsistencies and typos. 

Other Duties 

  • Complete user surveys to assure that the website is useful and easy to navigate. 

  • Track site analytics to identify patterns in entry/exit points, content preferences, and browser use. 

  • Ensure sensitive or classified school information is not inadvertently posted on the website for the general public to view. 

  • Administer website permissions for content contributors.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports to the Director of Communications 

  • No supervisory responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA or BS and two to five years’ experience

  • Good working knowledge of Web technologies, protocols and tools

  • Advanced and demonstrable experience with HTML and CSS

  • Reasonable understanding of Internet programming languages, especially PHP and JavaScript

  • Working knowledge of Web authoring, development and publishing tools

  • Comprehensive experience with all aspects of Website content management

  • Sensitivity to browser compatibility issues 

  • Excellent communication and writing skills 

  • Very strong customer service orientation 

  • Ability to work closely with a variety of user groups and to teach basic methodologies 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with the Drupal Content Management System, especially version 8

  • Proficiency with Twig and SASS

  • Proficiency with front-end JavaScript frameworks such as React

  • Proficiency with FTP and git
