Summary

The Head of Educational Technology advances whole-school teaching and learning with technology. In partnership with the Head of Technology and Innovation and the IT Manager, this person is responsible for developing and leading the strategic vision for the innovative use of educational technology at AIS in support of the school mission.  This critical school role supports the development of AIS’s short-term and long term strategic planning, in order to ensure that the school’s educational program drives technology at the school and not the reverse. The Head of Educational Technology leads programs and planning of Computer Science as a discrete subject. The position leads, coaches and appraises Digital Coaches and Computer Science faculty in routine operations and on their annual goals related to strategic initiative implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
 
3K-12 Curriculum Leadership
  • Collaborates with senior leaders and community stakeholders to develop and implement a strategic plan for educational technology
  • Leads the development and implementation of a scope and sequence for Educational Technology and integration into all areas of learning
  • Collaborates with the Primary School and Secondary School leadership to support and advance whole-school curricular goals
  • Partners with the Head of Research and Learning Design to advance STEAM learning and initiatives 3K-12
  • Leads through peer coaching, co-teaching and building relationships with adult learners to advance instructional design and classroom practice
  • Identifies and communicates best practices and research in educational technology to assist teachers in supporting and advancing student learning.
  • Is philosophically aligned with an inquiry based approach to learning with expertise in using digital technology for learning.
  • Coordinates and develops professional development opportunities and parent workshops on technology-related topics
  • Coordinates 3k-12 co-curricular and curricular opportunities in computer science and Robotics
  • Evaluates and pilots emerging advancements in educational technology
  • Develops technology-related policies with key stakeholders (Responsible Use, Social Media, etc.)
Technology Planning and Management
  • Develops and manages the annual budget for Educational Technology
  • Is the Google Apps for Education administrator
  • Leads change management for all stakeholders in the implementation of new initiatives and academic information systems
  • Mentors and coaches the digital innovation coaches and Computer Science faculty to transform classroom learning and teaching
  • Monitors the progress (both qualitative & quantitative) of educational technology at AIS
Essential Experience and Skills:
  • Minimum of 3 years of technology leadership experience in 3K-12 environments
  • Collaborative leader who works across stakeholders, promotes teamwork and effectively leads and facilitates multiple complex projects
  • Degree in Education or Educational Technology or a related field, or comparable experience
  • Experience working in an Apple environment and a variety of operating systems, devices, and software applications
  • Experience administering digital learning platforms (LMS, Google Suite for Education)
  • The ability to independently manage multiple tasks and projects in a timely and systemic fashion
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong demonstrated knowledge in Educational Technology
Desirable Traits
  • Maintains an active role in the local, national, and international educational technology community to ensure the school maintains an innovative and effective approach to Educational technology
  • Experience in benchmarking and performance metrics for all aspects of Technology (ISTE Lead and Transform Analysis and Apple Educational Technology Profile, for example)
