UTS is looking for a dynamic innovative educator to join the school’s leadership team and head technology integration initiatives as well as learning, innovation and research.

The  Head of Learning, Innovation & Research will report directly to the Principal of UTS and, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, and will take a proactive leadership role in addressing the school’s technology, research and innovation strategy, specifically as pertaining to technology integration in the classroom, to support digital leveraging, including transformative teaching.

Duties will include

  • Overseeing UTS’ commitment to 21st century learning, deep learning and the school’s role as part of the  New Pedagogies for Deep Learning (NPDL) network.

  • Collaborating with the Principal, and members of the academic administration to ensure that all staff are engaged in professional learning related to instruction, teaching 21st-century competencies and integration of educational technology into the teaching and learning process;

  • Working closely  with the Head of Academics to develop, monitor and update a cohesive school plan for the use of educational technology in the school that best aligns with UTS Strategic Plan;

  • Collaborating with the Director of the UTS MT Cohort,  University partners and the Director of the Eureka Research Institute@UTS to support learning and research related to 21st-century global education and problem-solving,

  • Working with teaching staff and leading efforts to effect implementation and integration of the most appropriate educational technologies and related pedagogical strategies into the curriculum, both discipline-based and cross-discipline.

  • Ensuring that staff and students acquire and leverage technological tools that support deep learning.  

 

Qualifications

  • Education: B.Ed, Masters Degree in Educational Technology, or a combination of education and experience in Educational Technology;  Principal’s Qualifications, preferred.

  • Experience: 7 to 10 years of teaching experience with at least 5 years of progressive academic leadership experience with a proven record in design thinking, curriculum development, implementation and review, as well as the integration of technologyacross grades 7 to 12.  Proven experience in the initiation and implementation of new technologies and the ability to lead professional development, oversee curriculum development. Experience in implementation and integration of technology to deepen and enhance teaching and learning, is central to this position, as is experience advising/supporting students and teachers and researching/overseeing and supporting global learning initiatives.  

  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with ability to build consensus.  Strong organizational and time management skills as well as strong computer skills with a solid understanding of software systems and integration of technology platforms into the classroom.  Excellent research and writing skills. Excellent knowledge of education/curriculum data.
