Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities

The Office of Research and Innovation installs and maintains electronic Research Administration (eRA) software used for the submission, management and review of research related grants, contracts, and regulatory compliance data. The Help Desk Analyst will be responsible for providing level 1 IT service support for all Office of Research and Innovation personnel and systems. Systems support include desktop, network/infrastructure, and enterprise systems support for Office of Research technology initiatives. The incumbent will be required to attend technology user group meetings and other systems training sessions as assigned.

Minimum Hiring Standards

  • Knowledge of basic information technology principles and terminology

  • Knowledge of the latest versions of Windows and Apple desktop and mobile operating systems

  • Knowledge of enterprise level system applications, including mobile device management, systems patching, and computer imaging tools

  • Basic knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy deployment strategies

  • Experience using G Suite cloud computing applications including, Gmail, Google, Drive, Smartsheet, Calendar, and File Stream

  • Experience with new machine provisioning and image deployment techniques

  • Basic knowledge of conference room A/V configuration including level 1 troubleshooting of computers, microphones, cameras, and software

  • Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Adobe products on both Windows and Apple platforms

  • Proven leadership skills, a self-starter with excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work in a diverse environment is required

  • Ability to manage tasks on multiple concurrent projects

Preferred Hiring Standards

  • Experience with the following scripting languages: Powershell, AppleScript, and VBScript

  • Experience implementing and managing Deep Freeze in a Windows 10 environment

  • Experience with current imaging and machine provisioning techniques and image deployment to Windows 10 computers

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related discipline preferred

  • Experience with either electronic grant submissions or protocol submissions is a plus

  • CompTIA A+, MCSA: Windows 10, Microsoft IT Support are a plus

  • Experience standing up and managing an enterprise level endpoint security system (ex. Sophos, System Center Endpoint Protection)
