Position Summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks innovative, energetic, and accomplished candidates for the position of Data Applications Analyst in the Office of the University Registrar. The Data Applications Analyst serves as a key data reporting contact, responsible for responding to data requests from campus and non-university entities, including those referred by the Public Records Office. This position designs, develops, tests, distributes, maintains, and documents reports. This position must understand the business needs leading to these data requests and design reports to meet those needs, while complying with the University’s privacy policy. The position will provide exemplary customer service and may be required to learn new technologies to support the University’s reporting platform and tools.
This position is responsible for assisting with data validation and working with Information Technology and Services (ITS) and the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (OIRA) to improve and implement campus reporting tools. This position must make sure any release of data complies with North Carolina Public Records Laws, FERPA, and any related internal policy documents. The position must also keep abreast of changes to University policies, procedures, and FERPA guidelines.
This position is responsible for special projects which may be short or long-term and which require both technical understanding and a broad knowledge of Registrar functionality. This position is required to provide excellent support.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer InformationSystems, Computer Engineering, math, or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelor’s degree and some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development; or Associate’s degree in Computer Programming and one year of experience in application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications and Experience

Demonstrated excellence in project management; technical knowledge and solution; substantial knowledge and understanding of computer systems and software; problem-solving and analytical skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
