Information Technology Capital Project Manager is the manager of multiple software and database systems related to the Campus Capital program including data entry as well as daily management of IT-related construction projects including integration of new systems with Campus IT (information technology) network.  

The IT Capital Project Manager for the department of Design and Construction will:

  • Under minimal supervision, manage and contribute to the overall development and coordination of multiple software and database systems being used by the Department of Design and Construction to manage Campus projects and facilities. 
  • Responsibilities of this position include day-to-day updates and coordination of the College's Building Infrastructure database, the Campus' Capital Funding programs (Access and Excel), the SUNY facilities database (AiM), as well as the Department of Design and Construction's webpage;
  • With minimal supervision, manage at least five (5) simultaneous IT-related design and construction projects from inception through construction; assist in developing IT scope of work for building construction and renovation projects ranging in size from $300,000 to $6.0M in construction cost.
  • Perform independent assessments of College and Department daily functions and evaluate and propose IT solutions where possible.
  • The IT Capital Project Manager will also be responsible for independently performing all IT related tasks the Department may need.
  • The IT Capital Project Manager will be responsible for investigating and recommending updates and/or new software including capital program management software to the Assistant Vice President.
  • The IT Capital Project Manager will also act as the liaison between Design & Construction, the ITS Department and Public Safety, coordinating all services, software, renovations, equipment specifications, etc.

 

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other related field is required.  Five years of experience operating and planning automated systems in a large organization is required.  At least five (5) years of experience managing, or assisting others with managing, IT-related construction projects.

The IT Capital Project Manager:

  • Must be computer proficient and have a working knowledge of the windows desktop environment, basic network principles and a working knowledge of building infrastructure and capital programming software. The applicant must have formal training or appropriate work experience in network based computer systems.  This individual must have a keen attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and creativity in problem solving.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, proficiency in professional letter writing and the ability to act on behalf of the Department at meetings with consultants, contractors, College administrators and Board of Trustees members.
  • The ability to perform with others as a project team member is essential.
