About This Role:

The Information Technology Manager’s work will center on developing the technical infrastructure on Windows, Linux, and Macintosh server platforms, to support projects related to Web services, content management system, database and file service administration, accounting services, and mobile device management system. To support the College’s goals and mission, we are looking for an individual that will offer exceptional expertise with our technology and education center, advancing us in instructional and educational technologies.

60% - It is necessary to have the knowledge and ability to do the following:

  • Maintain the hardware and software infrastructure in the College of Education information technology environment. Install, configure and administer, Microsoft, Linux, and Apple server operating systems and related software applications.

  • Maintain multiple storage area networks, with Quantum XSAN and Nexsan equipment.

  • Monitor and maintain the Commvault backup system, hardware, and configuration.

  • Maintain the licensing and support contracts for server hardware and software.

  • Understand and maintain vSphere v6 virtual environment.

  • Maintain MySQL database platform and assist with Filemaker database platform.

  • Assist and Manage Linux Apache website integration with Central IT’s CMS system.

  • Perform shell scripting and server-side scripting in the appropriate, designated languages.

20% - It is necessary to have the knowledge and ability to:

  • Alert and/or consult with the Director on any issues or problems as they arise in the performance of the job.

  • Consult with application developers and other vendors to diagnose and troubleshoot system problems and recommend hardware/software purchases for back-end system support.

15% - Must have the ability to:

  • Work collaboratively with staff and faculty, as a team, to manage system and application administration, maintaining up-to-date system documentation.

5% - Working on and off-site:

  • Will be frequently required to maintain an on-call status, that may require remote work, and may require support and recovery of systems outside of the normal working hours of the College.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field PLUS minimum of five years of full time development in a virtual server environment, as well as server administration experience in a Microsoft, Linux, and Macintosh environments.  VMware experience in virtual server environment is necessary.

    If no Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field, a total of 13 years of full time development and virtual server environment, as well as server administration experience in a Microsoft, Linux, and Macintosh environment may be substituted.
