Summary of Job Duties

The Information Technology Manager is responsible for a wide variety of technical support activities for the local staff and remote students for eVersity, a totally online university within the University of Arkansas System with a completely outsourced enterprise application hosting model.

The IT Manager provides daily technical support to a medium-sized organization of about twenty employees for computer workstations and peripherals, network connectivity, enterprise applications, common productivity software, and other day-to-day technology needs. The IT Manager will coordinate with a managed services provider for escalated support issues and network infrastructure configuration and maintenance, such as port activations, firewall configuration, and VPN management. Additionally, this position will provide login account and online application support for part-time offsite faculty and off-site students.

The IT manager works with student records staff and vendor support teams to support the technical operation of vendor-hosted enterprise applications such as the student information system, document imaging system, database reporting system, and other similar applications. This position will complete assigned maintenance and project tasks requiring technical expertise, such as creating SSL certificates, setting up file transfers, and coordinating network changes. Additionally, this position is responsible for implementing and executing integration processes that synchronize data and user accounts between different applications.

The IT manager additionally has primary responsibility for support and configuration of software-as-a-service (SaaS) email and collaboration tools and the SaaS learning management system. This position will participate in a lead or supporting role to implement, launch, manage, and maintain additional systems that are added to the IT service portfolio. This position will take the lead in managing the institutional response to significant IT service outages. The IT Manager will manage customer relationships with technical vendors; manage contact, license, and maintenance renewals; and monitor service performance to ensure service levels are being met.

The IT manager assists university leadership by advising on the best technical solutions to address business needs using existing or newly acquired technology resources. This position will act as a go-between to explain business needs to technical solutions vendors and to explain technical scenarios to university decision-makers. This position will help develop institutional policies that ensure IT services operate securely and reliably and in compliance with applicable regulations.

This position requires the ability to work independently and manage time with minimal supervision; collaborate with coworkers in a flexible team structure; and communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, and clients verbally and in writing. It requires the highest level of personal and professional ethical conduct. Other duties may be assigned.

  • The educational equivalent of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least five years of progressively responsible experience in an information technology support or system administration position
