About This Role:

The Information Technology Manager’s work will center on developing the technical infrastructure on a VMware virtual environment in a Windows, Linux, and Macintosh server platforms, to support projects related to Web services, content management system, database and file service administration, accounting services, and mobile device management system. To support the College’s goals and mission, we are looking for an individual that will offer exceptional expertise with our technology and education center, advancing us in instructional and educational technologies. 

Job responsibilities include:

• Manage resources and processes required to design, plan, and support all information technology products and services.
• Maintain the hardware and software infrastructure in the College of Education information technology environment. Install, configure and administer, Microsoft, Linux, and Apple server operating systems and related software applications in a VMware environment. Maintain and manage iOS and macOS MDM system. Maintain Apple Device Enrollment Program and Apple Volume Purchase Program.
• Maintain multiple storage area networks, with Quantum XSAN and Nexsan equipment.
• Monitor and maintain the Commvault backup system, hardware, and configuration.
• Maintain and troubleshoot networks/VLANs for server infrastructure.
• Maintain the licensing and support contracts for hardware and software.
• Work with active directory services to secure servers and data access.
• Understand and maintain vSphere v6 virtual environment.
• Maintain MySQL and Filemaker database platforms.
• Manage Linux Apache website integration with Central IT's CMS system.
• Perform shell scripting and server-side scripting in the appropriate, designated languages.
• Will be frequently required to maintain an on-call status, that may require remote work, and may require support and recovery of systems outside of the normal working hours of the College.
• Includes application and hardware support, following the college and department policies and guidelines.
• Work collaboratively with staff and faculty, as a team, to manage system and application administration, maintaining up-to-date system documentation.
• Responsible for analyzing, reviewing, enhancing, and tailoring existing systems to increase operating efficiency or to adapt to information needs.
• Defines systems requirements based on user needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms.
• Play an active role in the development and deployment of new technologies, enhancements, and upgrades in the College of Education.
• Research and evaluate new technologies to be used as enhancements or upgrades to existing server, network, and other IT infrastructure equipment. 
• Prepare budget and rationale for new technologies, enhancements or upgrades.
• Advise Administration in the interpretation of security policies and the development of plans and procedures to meet network security and physical security requirements.
• Alert and/or consult with the Director on any issues or problems as they arise in the performance of the job.
• Develop computer information resources, providing for data security and control, strategic computing, and disaster recovery.
• Researches, plans and implements secure communication protocols to safeguard systems.
• Ensure compliance with various security regulations and company network security policies and procedures.
• Establish and maintain trusted working relations with clients, and vendors.
• Consult with application developers and other departments to diagnose and troubleshoot system problems and recommend hardware/software purchases for back-end system support.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience. This position may use an educational equivalency as determined relevant by a hiring manager.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field PLUS minimum of five years of full time development and in virtual server environment, as well as server administration experience in a Microsoft, Linux, and Macintosh environment. 

    If no Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related field, a total of 13 years of full time development and virtual server environment, as well as server administration experience in a Microsoft, Linux, and Macintosh environment may be substituted.
