Purpose

Lead and manage the Authentication team within the Identity and Access Management (IAM) group in ITS Applications. Provide leadership and direction in the implementation and support of Authentication services for campus.

Essential Functions

Lead the implementation and management of IAM systems, specifically authentication services. Work with key stakeholders to establish strategy and direction for IAM services, while providing management of operational support, maintenance, and enhancement efforts. Supervise and mentor technical staff involved in the design, development, maintenance, and support of identity and access management systems. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key campus stakeholders. Work with governance committees, customers, technical partners, senior management, and other stakeholders to develop product/service roadmaps and identify, prioritize, and plan project efforts. Oversee complex IT projects, including establishing project schedules and deliverables, assigning tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring quality. Serve as part of the ITS Applications management group and participate in department-wide efforts to establish departmental priorities, implement standards, promote process improvements, and increase efficiency and effectiveness.

Required qualifications

Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing an information technology team, with knowledge of software development lifecycles and technologies. Demonstrated ability to foster effective working relationships with customers, peers, IT governance groups, and senior management. Experience serving as team lead, project manager, or product manager on one or more significant technology projects. Experience supervising and managing highly technical staff delivering mission-critical services. Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing enterprise-wide identity and access management systems. Experience with ForgeRock AM, OpenAM, and/or Shibboleth authentication software. Experience managing systems based on Java, Python, or similar programming languages. Experience managing systems that use SQL databases. Experience with ForgeRock DS or OpenLDAP directory services and the standard eduPerson directory schema. Experience with formal software development methodologies, version control, and automated testing. Experience with Agile Scrum methodology.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
