High Point Academy, nestled in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in Pasadena, is seeking a gifted Innovation and Technology Teacher (ITT) to enhance the integration of technology in the learning process. This is an 11-month position and will work with grades K-6 and report directly to the Director of Technology.

The primary focus of the Innovation and Technology Teacher is to develop, maintain and deliver a K-6 technology curriculum, enrich and support teaching and learning while strengthening the technology skills of students, teachers and staff.

The ideal candidate works well with others, has a background in instructional design, and possesses strategies for integrating technology into the learning process. Proficiency in basic Mac lab maintenance and experience in delivering end-user support is desirable.

The ITT will collaborate with the technology and administrative teams in the areas of organizing and supervising training activities, helping establish technology policies, and proposing learning objectives for staff as they relate to technology.

Main Responsibilities Include:

- Develop and teach an innovative, integrated and engaging technology-rich curriculum to all grade levels.
- Plan, model and encourage effective use of technology with an emphasis on iPads; making, tinkering, project-based learning; and innovation in the classroom.
- Provide strategic leadership, vision, and direction around technology adoption and integration within the curriculum.
- Model technology integration, 21st century pedagogy and digital literacy and citizenship into daily instruction.
- Be an inspirational leader of educational technology best practices to the faculty, students, and staff by serving as a role model for creativity, innovation, and experimentation.
- Create learning resources for students, teachers and staff. These may include websites, tutorials, instructional videos, interactive programs, and databases.
- Develop, coordinate, and teach workshops for instructional and administrative technology applications and assist faculty in group and 1 on 1 settings as needed.
- Identify trends in software, curriculum, teaching strategies and other educational areas.
- Assist in the creation, maintenance, and integration of technology plans, curriculum documents and assessment and learning outcomes.
- Use positive and effective interpersonal communication skills.

Key Skills and Characteristics:

- Elementary Teaching experience.
- Knowledge of current pedagogical strategies and technology trends, and high level of proficiency with educational technology.
- Familiarity with Apple products and Google Apps for Education, and a willingness to become expert in other products as necessary.
- Experience teaching a Digital Literacy and Citizenship curriculum.
- Effective and supportive communication skills including the ability to explain technology issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
- A willingness to invest in the High Point Academy community and participate in the lives of our students outside the realm of technology.
- Display patience, empathy and enthusiasm in their work with students and faculty.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Education.
