Kent Denver’s Office of Innovation has an opening for a full-time Innovation Specialist in the areas of technology and design to education to join our team.  This position works as a key Innovation team member to foster exceptional learning experiences for our students and faculty through teaching, mentoring, and instructional support.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Instruction (~40%)

  • Teach two courses each semester, as needed, in relevant areas of computer studies, engineering, and/or design, likely Computer Science A, Business Management and/or Engineering Design.
    .

Instructional Support & Space Staffing (~60%)

  • Actively and passively support classroom instruction and supervise students and faculty in the middle and upper school Impact Studios. 
  • Supervise pass/fail Innovation Workshops and Independent Studies in areas of Innovation, specifically technology and design.
  • Contribute to the construction of a network of professional advisors and a database of community opportunities for Kent Denver students.
  • Contribute expertise and passion to the Office of Innovation and institutional projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have qualifications that include: 

  • A bachelor's degree in education, technology, or a related field (required)
  • The ability to articulate the value of and advocate for the role of technology and design in education
  • Experience working in an entrepreneurial and/or business setting
  • An ability to thrive working as a member of a team
  • Previous work in a school or student environment
  • Ability to teach and mentor teenage students
  • Excitement around collaborating with other teaching professionals
  • A growth mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and execute projects
  • Experience in a design and fabrication studio

 

Start Date:

August 1st, 2023

 

Salary:

$50,000 - $60,000

 

Other Employment Info:

Work hours for this position are 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday with occasional evening, night, and/or weekend work.  In addition to a generous benefits package including retirement, health, dental, and professional development, this position receives 6 weeks vacation (taken in June and July), 1 week for Thanksgiving Break, 2 weeks for Winter Break, 1 week for Spring Break, all other school holidays, 3 personal days, and 9 sick days.
