Berwick Academy, a Pre K through 12th Grade Day School in South Berwick, Maine seeks a Inspiration Commons Coordinator/ Maker in Residence for the 2018-19 academic year to supervise our fabrication studio, and to help lead our efforts with making and design across the three divisions.  The Inspiration Commons is a facility within Berwick’s Jackson Library that houses both collaborative spaces and work spaces with equipment including 3D printers, CNC Routers, laser cutters, hand tools, and computers for digital design work. 
    
Strong candidates will have experience working with students in a school environment as well as expertise/comfort level with the tools and equipment detailed above.   Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise Inspiration Commons/Fabrication Studio for student use during the academic day and after school;
  • Work with faculty to support use of Inspiration Commons for class projects;
  • Work with Ass’t Head of School for Academic Affairs and Division Directors to offer professional development opportunities to faculty;
  • Teach 5th grade Makerspace twice weekly (two 45 min classes/week);
  • Teach an Upper School Science or Computer Science Trimester elective;
  • Supervise Upper School Robotics and Engineering Team (three 3:30-4:45 sessions per week);
  • Manage equipment use and inventory of consumables in the Fabrication Studio;
  • Distribute, ensure completion of, and manage all student safety waivers related to Fabrication Studio usage;
  • Provide content on student work in the Inspiration Commons to Director of Communications for school promotional use.
