Posting Summary

Design, develop, administer and support online courses with the participation of a subject-matter expert. Provide consulting and training to faculty and staff on the use of distance education pedagogy and tools. Assist with the development and implementation of online standards based on best practices. Provide assistance with planning and coordinating the delivery of materials from the course instructor(s). Work with subject matter experts/faculty to ensure courses are suited to the online learner and meet presentation and instructional design standards. Prioritize and manage course development activities and deliverables for multiple courses and subject matter experts to ensure on-time delivery of course content. Provide a variety of expertise and leadership in instructional media design. Investigate tools, technology, and methodology to improve outcomes for learners. Assist on special projects as assigned. General supervision from Manager of Information Systems and Distance Education.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, Education or related discipline and two to four years related experience to include instructional design experience working across multiple subject areas and familiarity with learning management systems required. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, time management and organizational skills, and ability to work as part of a production team required.

Desirable Qualifications

Understanding of principles of best practices related to online learning and teaching highly desirable. Experience teaching online courses, working in higher education and understanding SCORM standards and universal design/accessibility desirable. Experience with visual design, multimedia editing and production desirable. Familiarity with Blackboard Learning Management System desirable.
