St. Christopher's is seeking an Instructional Technologist for the 2016-2017 school year, serving our Lower School grade levels (Junior Kindergarten through Grade 5).  The application deadline is April 20, 2016.
The position requires elements of each of these roles: teacher, leader, communication specialist, problem-solver, and crisis manager. In partnership with the Lower School Technology Coordinator and as a member of the Lower School Learning Commons team, which is made up of librarians and technology specialists, position responsibilities include working to ensure that students and staff are effective and safe users of technology; empowering students to be critical thinkers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information; developing skill in the creative use of technology; modeling instructional strategies; and collaborating with classroom and enrichment teachers to further curricular goals.

 

Candidates should have a strong background in Instructional Technology, and preferably a master’s degree in Instructional Technology education, including experience working with Windows, Apple, OSX, iOS, GAFE, and Blackbaud’s onProduct environments.  Candidates should have teaching experience working with elementary-age children, a passion and joy for working with children and colleagues, and an enthusiasm for keeping up with current and future trends and practices in information literacy and technology education.  Additionally, candidates must possess effective communication skills, exhibit a positive “can-do” attitude, and demonstrate a high degree of professionalism.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborate with classroom and enrichment teachers as a partner in the
instructional process
  • Design, teach, and assess whole-class/small group learning experiences that incorporate technology into the academic framework of the school
  • Evaluate, promote, and use existing and emerging technologies to support the school’s Second Century Vision
  • Serves as a Lower School representative in support of the School’s BUILD initiative
  • Inspire and motivate the Lower School faculty to thoughtfully incorporate various information literacy and digital tools into their instruction.
  • Model digital citizenship, including using internet resources and apps in compliance with COPPA regulations, and demonstrating respect for intellectual property, copyright, and fair use
  • Learn and support the many technologies at use in the school and assist in basic troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Assist in management of hardware, software, and apps
  • Assist in planning and providing professional development for faculty and staff, as well as educational opportunities for parents
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively with students, faculty and staff, and parents who may have diverse interests and competence in the use of technology.
  • Plan effectively in order to juggle the many aspects of the position
