Founded in 1874, Ursuline Academy of Dallas is an independent Catholic, college preparatory school for young women sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters. The mission of Ursuline Academy is the total development of the individual student through spiritual formation, intellectual growth, service to others, and building of community.

The Instructional Technologist assists teachers in enhancing learning through improved integration of technology. The primary focus of the Instructional Technologist is to enrich and support teaching and learning while strengthening the technology skills of teachers and staff.

Key Accountabilities

  • To digitally transform teaching and learning/student outcomes with Microsoft and other solutions, using Teams and OneNote as Ursuline’s standardized teaching and learning platform.

  • To provide faculty, staff, and students technology training and support as required to meet the highest standards of a Microsoft Showcase School, incorporating TEAL practices.

  • To provide training on Surface Hubs, incorporating the use of Teams and OneNote, and TEAL practices.

Responsibilities

Faculty and Staff:

  • Assist classroom teachers with incorporation of technological hardware and software into instruction with attention to the one-to-one environment.

  • Provide training and support for TEAL practices.

  • Provide training and support for Surface Hub use in classrooms and meeting venues.

  • Provide instruction (including written) and assist in the use of peripherals such as projectors and projector systems, video conferencing, digital cameras, and language labs.

  • Provide professional development activities directly related to the integrated use of technology and technology tools available.

  • Effectively communicate technology ideas and provide training on best practices.

  • Provide orientation for new faculty in My BackPack, Office 365, and other network resources.

  • Inform teachers of learning resources.

  • Keep up to date with latest developments, updates, and new features roadmaps to the Office 365 suite of products.

  • Provide technology orientation for all new employees and training in the policies and use of Academy software.

  • Conduct monthly and individual sessions designed to help faculty and staff integrate technology needed to fulfill the tasks associated with their positions.

  • Create learning resources which may include written instructions, tutorials, videos, or interactive programs.

  • Organize/create the needed material for Laptop Rollout.

  • Coordinate and/or conduct MIE training for the new faculty and staff.

  • Coordinate and/or organize the submission and reviewing of Digital Portfolios (if necessary).

  • Conduct classroom visits to review technology use.

  • Create/Manage Microsoft Teams for use by the Ursuline community.

  • Provide technical support when needed.

Student Support:

  • Provide technology orientation for all new students, including Laptop Rollout training.

  • Teach the Technology section of the Life Skills class to the Freshman class.

  • Provide technical support when needed.

Qualifications

  • Teaching experience in a Catholic and/or independent school and/or all girls environment strongly preferred.

  • Current MIE Expert preferred.

  • Experience working with Surface Hubs preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of BackPack, Office 365, and Adobe Cloud.

  • Experience working with Teams and OneNote as an LMS.

  • Good working knowledge of TEAL (technology enhanced active learning) practices.

  • Proven technology-related experience which includes training.

  • Experience in leading training in-house and coordinating sessions with vendors.

  • Ability to work with users on various levels.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
