Description

Saint Anselm College, a private, liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking a full-time, year-round Instructional Technologist. Reporting to the Director of Instructional Technology and Design, the Instructional Technologist supports faculty and academic departments in the creation and utilization of instructional multimedia, web course management systems, and classroom technology. They support the effective operation and use of the Canvas Learning Management System and other learning technologies. They engage, lead and participate with faculty members in one-on-one consultations, workshops, and training sessions. They will assist in the evaluation, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of academic technology solutions.

Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the effective operation of Canvas Learning Management System to include creation of courses, assignment of students, management and faculty technical support

  • .Provide quality support and customer service to faculty for a variety of instructional technology requests, including: Canvas, TurnItIn, VoiceThread, Zoom and other solutions.

  • Provide support for the development of multimedia content and other instructional content.

  • Assist faculty in the development and delivery of web-based instructional materials.

  • Assist in the development of faculty training materials and teach training sessions as assigned.

  • Possess a working knowledge of legal issues associated with copyright issues in electronic publishing.

  • Continually asses, explore and evaluate new technologies for potential applications to instructional needs.

  • Investigate, implement, and manage LTI integrations within the Canvas LMS.

  • Work collaboratively and effectively with staff, faculty, administrative clients and other instructional development and IT professionals

  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional technology or related field and a minimum of 2 years experience developing instructional technology materials required

  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and learning theories a plus

  • Two years experience supporting web-based course management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, or similar systems)

  • Knowledge of HTML5 and/or SCORM a plus

  • Familiarity with web / multimedia design and authoring software such as Adobe Creative Cloud applications

  • Working administrative knowledge of Google Apps for Education

  • Familiarity with Turnitin or similar plagiarism detection tool

  • Familiarity with Qualtrics or similar survey software

  • Familiarity with graphic design elements appropriate for web-based instruction

  • Experience with production and editing of original media using appropriate development and editing tools and design criteria

  • Possess experience with conversion of a wide variety of formatted materials into appropriate digital formats for instructional use

  • Ability to manage instructional technology projects, produce high-quality products and meet deadlines

  • Ability to communicate with all levels within the organization including faculty, technical teams, staff and other subject matter experts

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Must be open-minded, creative, and proactive at solving problems
