This position exists to help our faculty effectively use the suite of instructional technologies provided by the institution, in particular the online learning management system. This position is also responsible for assessing and responding to changing faculty technology needs and researching and recommending emerging instructional technologies. While this position lives in Library Services and Online Education, the incumbent will work closely with individual faculty, academic departments, Center for Teaching Excellence, the Faculty Senate Instructional Technology Committee and collaborate with the Office of Academic Affairs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Train faculty effectively use the suite of instructional technologies supported by the institution, including; Canvas, Office 365, OneDrive, MS Office Suite, Zoom, et. al., by providing on-call assistance, training, and ongoing support.

  • Manage the institutional learning management system and assist faculty with all aspects of the tool, including in-course assistance (course development, feature use, etc.)

  • Organize and conduct faculty training and information sessions

  • Research and recommend emerging instructional/educational technology

  • Collaborate with Senate Instructional Technology Committee and Center for Teaching Excellence by regularly attending committee meetings

  • Other related duties may be assigned.

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE

  • Able to work effectively with faculty and technical staff in a variety of settings

  • Recent experience with the roles listed under Duties and Responsibilities

  • Aptitude for technical problem solving

  • Customer centric

  • Willing and able to continuously upgrade skills, abilities and knowledge

Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Education, or a graduate degree with related experiences.

  • Solid understanding of learning management systems

  • Teaching or training experience, any setting

  • Two years of experience providing educational technology instruction or support

PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience with Canvas

  • Well versed in the Microsoft Office suite and other common instructional tools

  • Recent teaching or support experience in higher education, particularly in an online setting

  • Experience with lecture capture solutions

  • Experience migrating faculty to a new LMS
