Job Summary

Serves as a member of the instructional design team; work collaboratively with faculty, faculty assistants, program chairs, program directors, analysts/programmers, technical support staff, and web administrators to design and develop courses and course management strategies for residential, hybrid, and online courses. This includes fostering active and engaged learning, selecting and implementing appropriate instructional technologies, designing and developing effective Internet and multimedia instructional materials, and assessing teaching methods.

The Instructional Consultant will engage in outreach to departments, offices, and external constituencies as appropriate and directed; keep current with the professional development literature in the area of expertise; contribute to goal-setting and program assessment within KSBIT Learning Systems.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in instructional systems, computer science or other computer related disciplines and two years experience in faculty consulting, instructional design, or related fields. Experience with course management systems and other instructional technologies.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Possess one or more of the following skills: Web design, HTML5, web scripting, SQL, multimedia development tools, and database structures. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to collaborate successfully with others. Excellent organization and presentation skills. Knowledge of software applicable to online instruction.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in instructional systems, computer science, or related field. Significant experience with online learning environments, emerging technologies, or experience teaching online or hybrid courses.
