Job Summary

The Instructional Technology Consultant provides professional client support through informed consulting practice, workshop facilitation, and project management. Further, the Instructional Technology Consultant serves as an expert resource on a range of current and emerging instructional technologies. This includes learning management systems, active learning classrooms (and supporting technologies), electronic collaboration and social networking, e-Portfolios, instructional use of multimedia, electronic conferencing, and online instruction. Additionally, the Instructional Technology Consultant collaborates in larger initiatives and working groups to support the mission of the IU East Center for Teaching and Learning. The emphasis for all activities is on evidence-based best practice in the use of instructional technology.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, instructional technology/design or related field and at least two years of experience in instructional development and/or instructional technology consulting and/or training, preferably in a higher education context.

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications — especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Familiarity with multimedia technologies such as software video editors (e.g., Adobe Premiere), e-learning authoring software (e.g. Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline, etc.) and collaboration and learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Desire2Learn, etc.); Project management experience, with demonstrated ability to serve as a proactive group lead for technology-related projects of varying scope and duration; Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills (both written and verbal) essential to present and interact with people in a group, presentation, or workshop setting with audiences which possess varying degrees of technical knowledge; Customer service and problem-solving oriented, with superior ability to work as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree; four years of experience.
