Job Summary:
Responsible for supporting faculty and walk-in students with their online course material, use/functionality of the Learning Management System (LMS − currently Blackboard), various integrated systems (e.g., Kaltura video system, Respondus Monitor test proctoring system, etc.), and user’s personal computer settings to ensure user’s PC/LMS compatibility. Collaborates with and assists faculty members in the development and conversion of course material for online publishing. Promotes best online course pedagogical practices and the effective use of distance learning technologies. Ensures online course quality meets PBSC certification standards by performing new course certification reviews and existing course certification reaffirmations. Promotes the use of open educational resources (OERs) and interactive instructional activities, and meeting Quality Matters (QM) certification standards and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards for online accessibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with faculty members to design and develop online web-enhanced courses utilizing effective online educational practices.

  • Use of high-end multimedia production equipment and software to produce educational materials.

  • Design and produce video, multimedia, computer generated graphics and other audiovisual materials in support of instruction.

  • Assist in the development of course shells with faculty.

  • Design or develop dynamic web pages utilizing Active Server Pages and script language technology.

  • Produce, design or develop computer-based graphics, digital images, video and/or audio to support educational multimedia endeavors.

  • Play an active role in technology related projects and tasks that relate to or impact the integration of technology in the learning environment.

  • Promote the effective use of distance learning technologies and on-line education, to include maintaining current knowledge of industry trends.

  • Oversee searches for reusable learning objects, identify appropriate learning objects meeting fair use standards and work with faculty in the design of such objects.

  • Digitize, encode, and develop media content for streaming.

  • Design and develop web-based delivery of text, graphics, animated simulations and digital video.

  • Manage course projects from inception to completion, in addition to consult with individual or groups of faculty on optimal design of curriculum, instruction, and effective uses of multimedia.

  • Supervise or participate in the selection, development, and coordination of the use of books and instructional media including videoconference courses, online courses, interactive classrooms.

  • Research and recommend advances in multimedia and course delivery software for use by faculty and others to improve delivery methods and operations with the assistance of faculty, vendors, and development team members.

  • Perform video and audio production as required.

  • Developing, maintaining and monitoring department web site. Uses established web templates and may use HTML or web development software.

  • Perform word processing and other computer related functions for Web Page design and/or maintenance.

  • Assist with the production of complex presentations with unique and customized formatting patterns.

  • Use a flatbed scanner and accompanying software to author, create, edit and manipulate photographs and graphics for high-resolution output.

  • Assist with the creation of faculty web pages.

  • Introduce, train and support new methods as developed to unit members, faculty and administrators.

  • Maintain currency in technology.

  • Independently research new techniques/tools required to keep pace with new technologies.

  • Evaluate, research, self-study and develop using new technologies and/or methodologies.

  • Support distance learning activities.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree or two years of college coursework.

  • Minimum of one year related experience.

 

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Learning Management System (LMS) (i.e., Blackboard or similar).

  • Web Content Management software (i.e., Dreamweaver or similar).

  • Adobe Photoshop (or similar application).

  • Adobe Acrobat.

  • Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications.

 

Skill in:

  • Effective customer service.

  • Good verbal and written communication.

  • Multitasking capabilities.
