Job Description

The Instructional Technology Specialist works as a member of a team of technology and media design specialists in a higher education setting. This role collaborates with eLearning team members to develop, implement and support instructional technologies for the development, deployment and support of online courses at Azusa Pacific University College (UC). This includes supporting the elearning helpdesk operations, performing course updates, course shell backup and restore, site-wide edits, supporting enrollment management and assisting with site administration duties. This specialist follows university best practices in online course development, instructional media design and must be able to edit or script HTML code. 

Required Experience / Education

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional technology, web development or related field 

  • Experience in supporting course management or learning management platforms

  • Three years experience in production and development of instructional content for online learning

  • Current knowledge of web 2.0, social media technologies and emerging technologies

  • Experience in a production environment for education, training, and/or digital media development

  • Competence in developing online courses for delivery in university learning management system, Moodle

  • Experience coding/editing HTML5 

Desired Experience / Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional media design, and/or graphic design, web media design and practices

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in higher education, with substantial experience converting content for, setting up and supporting online learning courses.

  • Experience with helpdesk support of users of a learning management system or website

  • Experience with Adobe Captivate and/or Articulate or similar elearning authoring tool

  • Familiarity with site administration of learning management systems (e.g. Moodle)

  • Experience in producing training materials, screen captured demonstrations and tutorials

  • Familiarity with video production and online video compression formats

  • Experience with academic institutions, adult learners and higher education faculty

  • Familiarity with guidelines and development requirements for accessibility in educational websites

  • Familiarity with PHP/SQL

Primary Duties

  • Performs a support role in eLearning Helpdesk responses, providing troubleshooting, just in time training and course support

  • Assists manager or lead with site administration tasks, course updates, enrollment management and elearning helpdesk tasks

  • Prepares, creates and/or converts various types of content for online courses, including text, graphics, and rich media such as audio, video or instructional media

  • Develop multiple courses at a time within a specified timeframe

  • Work with elearning team members to identify and implement innovative technologies that provide platforms for collaborative and engaging student learning experiences 

  • Develops interactive and simulation training modules from pre-designed storyboards

  • Carry out other duties and responsibilities assigned by AVP, manager, or lead

Compensation
Paygrade 8: $19.49-$24.36/hr
