Valley Christian Schools in the Phoenix, Arizona metro area is expanding their Technology Department and seeks to add an Instructional Technology Specialist. This is a full-time, year-round position reporting to the Director of Technology. Experience with a range of technologies, but specifically iPads in education, is desired.

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:

The candidate must be a professing and maturing Christian enthusiastically supporting Valley Christian’s statement of faith and mission statement.  The following skills and traits are necessary:

  • Positive attitude

  • Excellent customer service skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Intermediate to advanced skill in the use of Apple iPads

  • Intermediate to advanced skill in the use of Microsoft Windows

  • Intermediate to advanced skill in the use of Microsoft Office applications

  • Basic knowledge of wired and wireless networking

  • A desire to support and advance the mission of equipping students to be culture changers for Christ

Candidates with the following skills or experience will be given preference:

  • A minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience is preferred

  • A minimum of two years of technical experience is preferred

  • Knowledge of system imaging and deployment

  • Experience with JAMF Software’s Casper Suite of tools

  • Intermediate to advanced skill in the use of RenWeb

  • Intermediate to advanced skill in the use of Moodle

  • BA degree in technology, computer science, or related major. Work related experience may be considered.

Position duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide VCS staff and teachers with instructional technology training and workshops as needed.

  • Support VCS staff and teachers in the use of scheduling, grading, and transcript software of the school’s learning management system and other educational software used by the school.

  • Work with the Director of Technology and Vice Principal for Academics to develop an instructional technology plan for the school.

  • Provide ongoing instructional technology support for VCS teachers.

  • Possibly develop online education, and oversee and support it as needed.

  • Support the installation and use of automated systems and other instructional software programs for student/staff usage.

  • Maintain school policies, processes, and procedures for staff and student use of electronic equipment on campus, e.g., desktops, laptops, iPads, projection equipment, and other audio-visual equipment.

  • Assist with the administration of standardized tests which are administered through technological means.

  • Oversee the administration of student surveys.

  • Install software and programs/applications as necessary on staff desktops, iPads, and school servers as needed.

  • Flexibility to work late or early hours to troubleshoot technology problems.

  • Prepare/teach instructional technology training sessions for students, staff, board members, and/or parents as needed.

  • Oversee the training of new students in the use of their iPads.

  • Collaborate with the Special Education Department (V.I.N.E.) to meet the technology needs of individual students served by that department.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to best meet the technological needs of all students.

General staff duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in ongoing and regular staff, team, and individual professional development; be a positive addition to discussions; participate in decision-making.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop, plan, and implement best practices based on the needs/ abilities of the students.

  • Work collaboratively with other colleagues across discipline and content areas.

  • Attend all common preparation time meetings with colleagues and team members.

  • Attend all appropriate staff/faculty meetings.

  • Serve on committees and school activities as needed.

  • Attend school functions as needed.

  • Ability to work in fast paced work environment.

  • Operate standard office equipment (fax machine, copier machines, etc.).

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or administration.

Compensation:  
Salary is commensurate with experience.  Medical, pension, and additional benefits are included with the position.
