King’s Ridge Christian School (KRCS) is a Christian community providing a college preparatory education equipping students to know, to serve, and to believe. Our vision is to use classroom technology to engage students in asking questions and choosing tools to facilitate real world problem solving. The Instructional Technology Specialist is a Full-time administrative position, who supports this vision by focusing on engaging students and teachers in a deliberate integration of technology into the classroom.
 

Essential Functions

The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the technology integrator of emerging classroom technology and resources.

  • Serve as the first level of technical support for the Upper School faculty, student, and staff, who will maintain a technology presence in the upper school.

  • Work with the Head of Upper School to identify technology needs and set clear objectives for a resolution.

  • Serve as an advocate for US technology needs by identifying and researching solutions that will be incorporated in the KR technology plan.

  • Identify classroom challenges, and seek ways to resolve them through effective implementation of technology.

  • Schedule weekly one-on-one training or in-class instructions with US Faculty students and staff.

  • Teach two Upper School computer science electives to give student an understanding data communication, system functions, and program languages.

  • Some application development and system programming.  Training will provided.

  • Mobile device management and App development for education.

  • Possess a sense of humor along with the ability to inspire and communicate effectively with faculty, students, and parents.

  • Possess the ability to captivate an audience through effective delivery of technical training and social engagement.

  • Develop professional relationships with counterparts in other schools to proactively bring consistency and best practice to the technology program.

  • Uphold the mission and philosophy of KRCS and the technology program.

  • Is intelligent and demonstrates initiative and aptitude for learning complex concepts.

  • A self-directed learner who seeks out emerging technology and presents new ideas in a creative way to ensure full community by-in.

  • Fully embrace 21st century learning strategies, and is willing to challenge students and faculty to grow and embrace new skillsets, thought processes, and collaborative opportunities.

 

Planning

Being proactive in scheduling group and one-on-one training with faculty, students, and parents to ensure that they have embrace KRCS technology model, and are maximizing the effective use of the technology at their disposal.

Work with the technical team to fully understand the basic operation of all systems in order to better serve the teachers while in the classroom.

 

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree required.
 

Experience

  • 5 years’ experience as a classroom teacher, instructor, or technical director. 

  • Previous experience in an independent school is a big plus.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficient in academic applications and tools (Both software and hardware) that promote learning.

  • Must possess basic troubleshooting and problem solving skills to successfully use projectors, smart boards, audio visual systems, wireless devices such as IPads, kindle, laptops, smart phones, etc.

  • Must possess the ability to work independently, but knows how to be a vested team player.

  • Knowledge presentation applications, and hardware, to deliver content to a large audience.

  • Possess enough technical knowledge to be able to communicate technical diagnostics to the technical team.

Other

The Instructional Technology Specialist is the first level support for both faculty and students.  The individual is required to work an administrative schedule, which is a 12 month agreement.  During school holidays, the administrative schedule is reduced to a minimum of two (2) work day per week, to ensure technology coverage, and is at the discretion of the Technology Director. 
 

Key Relationships

Internal

The ITS must create a positive working relationship with all students, faculty and administrative staff, and promote a healthy learning environment by making every effort to engage dialogue and solicit feedback from the KRCS community.
 

External

The ITS actively represents the school to the public through engagement with parents, vendors and the technical community.  The individual is encouraged to actively participate in a strong online presence such as blogs, social media, tech-tips, etc.
