About the Position

The Instructional Technology Trainer will be responsible for delivering high-quality live and recorded professional development for teachers, coaches and leaders within the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools, a subset of over 264 schools. This is an exciting opportunity to play an integral role in a national initiative that leverages technology in support of teaching and learning.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and work as part of the firm-wide technology training team; provide input into and execute technology training strategy as directed by the Director of Professional Learning/Training

  • Participate in the development, testing, maintenance, and analysis of training programs and related materials.

  • Organize and Deliver high-quality live and recorded professional development sessions to VILS Teachers, Coaches, and Principals.

  • Monitors virtual asynchronous courses and provide feedback to participants

  • Travel regionally to deliver high quality professional development sessions to schools and districts, and to lead live events – 30-50% possible travel (when permitted)

  • Build strong relationships throughout the VILS Network and internal Digital Promise; understanding their processes and workflows and identifying opportunities to leverage technology to drive efficiencies. Align needs and requirements to training content.

  • Actively participate in various assigned projects around the implementation of new or upgraded technology.

  • Create, publish, and maintain learning materials including user manuals, quick reference guides, eLearning, and online help for self-service on firm applications for use on multiple devices.

  • Review technical information and content prepared by others for clarity, consistency, and content quality.

  • Identify end-user help issues and respond with innovative solutions.

  • Collaborate with external partners on training planning and delivery

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent (Master’s Degree preferred)

  • Must have 5+ years experience teaching in a K-12 setting; department- or school-level leadership background

  • Educational professional development experience

  • Experience with web-based technologies to support instruction

  • Experience designing and delivering online instruction

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills - dynamic, enthusiastic, upbeat individual who connects well with others and has a positive, collaborative attitude

  • Organized, methodical, and detail-oriented

  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently, from start to finish

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Self-starter and quick learner with a passion for improving education through technology

  • Experience using Salesforce, Asana, Google Apps, WebEx, and LMS products

  • Able to work in a team setting with scheduling deadlines for small and large projects

  • Ability to learn new technology tools quickly and communicate to a broad range of experience levels

  • Must live close to a major airport

Reporting

  • Coordinate with cross initiative teams to ensure metrics and reports are up to date (Data Analytics, IT, Communications) as necessary

  • Collect school-based data and generate reports on the progress of schools

  • Provide vital insights and reporting across the program for Verizon, Digital Promise, school leadership, and others.

  • Track progress of projects in Asana.

  • Assist with additional data collection as necessary

Initiative Implementation

  • Support Content and Training Team to plan and host virtual and in-person convenings for school leaders and teachers.

  • Work with team on process development and improvement

  • Connect with colleagues in other Digital Promise initiatives to share best practices.

  • Think, work and plan sequentially toward initiative outcomes, constantly managing multiple deadlines and needs of different stakeholders

  • Other duties as assigned
